NFL Rookie Watch@NFLRookieWatxhThe potential 2024 QB draft class absolutely showed OUT in week one.
This QB class could be the best the NFL has EVER seen.
Caleb Williams (USC): 18/24, 319 passing yards, 5 TD’s
Drake Maye (UNC): 24/32, 269 yards, 2 TD’s, 2 INT’s
Shedeur Sanders (Colorado): 38/47, 510 yards (led country), 4 TD’s
Michael Penix Jr. (UW): 29/40, 450 yards, 5 TD’s
Quinn Ewers (Texas): 19/30, 260 yards, 3 TD’s
JJ McCarthy (Michigan): 26/30, 280 yards, 3 TD’s
Bo Nix (Oregon): 23/27, 287 yards, 3 TD’s
Riley Leonard (Duke): 17/33, 175 yards, 98 rushing yards, 1 TD
Spencer Rattler (SC): 30/39, 353 yards
Joe Milton (Tennessee): 21/30, 201 yards, 4 total TD’s
Jordan Travis (FSU): 23/31, 342 yards, 5 total TD’s
And only ONE of these QB’s came away with a loss

I've heard the same thing about the '25 class, but you just never know. Joe Burrow was not on anyone's radar until his final season at LSU.

I think Caleb Williams has generational talent.

No but I haven't looked at all of them yet.  

Nobody believed that about Mahomes pre draft (well maybe the Chiefs did).  These things are hard to predict and how a player turns out as a pro is somewhat dependent on where he lands and how he's coached and developed.

Patriots moving on from Trent Brown.

The veteran tackle's contract was set to void on Monday, and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the Patriots won't be offering Brown an extension....The Patriots will surely be looking to solidify the left tackle position this offseason, after working with a rotation of Brown, Conor McDermott and Vederian Lowe last season.

You put a rookie QB into that? Or move down a bit and draft one of the many good left tackles in this draft?

I dont know that I have ever looked at a college QB and made that claim,  certainly have never made that claim and been right.

 Didnt see what it took to move to #5? I think the only way Vikings get a top 4 qb is to move up. 

 Maybe (big maybe) the Pats would move off 3 for a trade down for an OT or DL???

 Seems like every mock has MHJ going to Cards @4

You think he has something against the Vikings for the way they handled his interview? Could be I guess. 

But I do think JJ is going top 10. And I do think the Cards won't trade out if the MHJ is there. And I do think the Chargers will want to trade down. And I do think the Vikings want to trade up. But wow, now that I think about it, that little interview snub (assuming Harbaugh even views it that way) could make the Chargers take lesser offers from the Broncos or Raiders.

New England is a very real possibility. I think the Vikings will know whether or not Harbaugh (actually, it's the GM Horitz's decision) will play ball or not long before, so that might force the Vikings to turn to New England. And then is JJM even in the picture? Or is it Daniels? Maye?

Belichick is out obviously but Russell Wilson strikes me as the kind of player that would do well in New England. He may value chasing a ring more and go elsewhere, but I could see him valuing the Pats (or Steelers…) organizational stability after how things ended in Seattle and now the Denver disaster.

Trading back from 3 could go a long ways towards reshaping their roster too, depending how far back they drop.

I don't think McCarthy is going Top 10. I know, right now, its liar's season and that's the current rumor. I don't believe it. I think he's going to be right there when Minnesota selects at #11 unless the Vikings move up for their guy (if it isn't JJM). I don't even know if they CAN move up without it being stupid compensation.

Draft trades within the division happen all the time. But you might be right about this one, considering it would be for a franchise QB.

I think he's going to be right there when Minnesota selects at #11 unless the Vikings move up for their guy (if it isn't JJM). I don't even know if they CAN move up without it being stupid compensation. 

I think he goes as high as 2 overall. I've been wrong, before but time will tell. I do not think he'll fall out of the top 10. Though I hope he does since I want the Vikings to take him.

Really not sure why you felt the need to post a 3rd string S-related video in the QB Watch thread but I'll play along... woof. Most busts at least get to see the field and prove they stink. Unless Cine pulls off something miraculous he's arguably a worse on-field pick than Gladney or Treadwell. Brutal.

The thing is who knows if Minnesota likes him enough? That's the other thing nobody is talking about. QB is a strange position: if you get the 4th rated WRer, hey that's not bad. You get the 4th rated QB on your board, then it becomes is he worth the #11 spot? Do we like him enough to even take? What round is that grade? How many other players do you have rated higher than him that you SHOULD draft instead?

You don't want another Christian Ponder mistake.

If he falls past the 10th pick in a QB needy draft, the Vikings may do well to think twice about taking him there!

It was in jest as a response to Jimmy's post about who would be dumb enough to trade within the division since the Cine trade was what he was referring to. Not trying to hijack the QB thread. I think we all hope we get some return on our investment with Cine this upcoming season.

Unless he totally flubs the draft process all together, if we don't take him at 11, I bet the two teams picking directly behind us would. That's the tough thing also because those two teams (Broncos/Raiders) could easily jump us if they wanted McCarthy bad enough.
