….. at least in recent memory???

Maybe it’s preseason that resembled wet dog shit. Maybe it’s the litany of question marks that surround Kyler Murray. Maybe it’s the questions surrounding how good of a coach KOC actually is. Maybe it’s just me…

But this is the least amount of hype I’ve EVER had going into a season…and that’s including Darnold’s year (and I thought Sam was a fucking joke). I mean I’m gonna watch the games, but I have less than zero faith in K1. And this team will only go as far as he takes them. Therefore I have almost no faith in this offense.

I think the defense is good enough that they’ll be in every game this year regardless of opponent, but I don’t know if the offense can keep up their end of the bargain unless Kyler (by some miracle) can regain his form from more than half a decade ago. I hope I’m wrong.

I could make a case for Kyler going off for 4 total TD and beating Green Bay’s ass in week one. I could also make an equally compelling case for him throwing 3 picks and being an absolute disaster. I’m more dreading the game than I am excited for it.

That's why they play the games, but seems your mind is already made up. Hype is in the eye of the beholder. Cheer up: if the team stinks, a whole group of posters who've been ghosts all summer will magically reappear and you can take turns shitting on the team.

I'm excited every year and frankly, there is no reason we shouldn't be optimistic this season. Kyler has been a top 15 QB and with this offense, he should be in a great situation. Our defense with BFlo at the helm is going to compete for the top 10 again. Our kicker is one of the best in the business and has ice in his veins. We have the best chant in the entire league and probably one of the top 3 stadiums in the league. We brought in a new GM and have a HC that has a winning record and is an offensive mind.

Outside of getting a steal on Kyler Murray, my sleeper for success this season is Jennings.

My only concern is the penalties on ST...need to get that shored up.

Only a week to go! I'm pumped!

I wouldn't say this is a lack of hype or excitement. I'm pretty positive on our outlook. But this has been the most toxic shitshow of an offseason from the media and fan sides of things and I'm pretty worn out before we've even started.

Me- The NFL is my favorite thing to watch so I'm already bought and sold. Even when the Vikings aren't amazing I still have a great time following the NFL as a whole. Super hyped.

My friends who are Vikings fans but maybe not quite as big of Vikings fan as me- Their excitement levels are way down. Jefferson is the only marketable player, people are skeptical about Kyler, and the refrain, "same ol vikes" gets thrown around a lot.

Yep. Despite getting a pretty significant surround upgrade at WR, OL and DST, it might indeed take a miracle for a QB who’s over a quarter-century old to regain his form from a quinquennium ago. But in the immortal words of Hot Chocolate, “I believe in miracles…you sexy thing.”

Man...

If a fan can't get optimistic or excited about the potential of this year's team? Or even just the entertainment potential of K1 with this surround and defense?

The two years of having to watch Favre were by far the seasons I was most not excited for, not even close.

I am looking forward to this season, there is a lot of talent on the team, we have the best trio of WRs, a solid OL and a QB who is capable of playing at a pro bowl level and some young talent on defense. Will be exciting to see how it plays out.

I like the Jordans, Addison and Mason, to have really big years.

I mean it’s hard to be optimistic about a QB that has either been injured or ineffective for the last FIVE years.

The only shred of hope you could have is Sam Darnold was good literally never before he got to Minnesota. However he is INFINITELY better at throwing the ball than Kyler.

Guess we’ll see in a couple weeks.

No worries on the wait and see approach, kind of where I'm at. But I can definitely see the big upside without squinting....that's the exciting part.

But I will say the national media cracks me up: 'We LOVE K1 in Minnesota'!! they say.....then separately they do win and loss projections and put the Vikings last in the NFCN, lol. 🤔

I'm always excited for a new season even though I go into each season with tempered expectations. This season is no different.

Five years? In 2024, Kyler Murray played all 17 games and had 4423 total yards, 26 total TDs and 11 INTs. It wasn’t his best year, but I wouldn’t exactly call it “ineffective” compared to what we witnessed in Minnesota last season. And he did it with the entire right side of his line missing for most of the season, a rookie receiver who struggled with drops, and a bottom third defense.

I understand where you're coming from, as you and many others have heard my distain regarding the poor handling and challenges around the QB situation for months, but that's in the past and this is the best time of year! The cooler weather is on it's way, the leaves will start changing (for some of us), the Holiday season is near, and our beloved Vikings are back!

I'm not a huge Kyler fan, as I have said, I have followed him since his days at OU, but he is our QB to lead this team and I could not be more excited to get this season kicked off at home against the Puckers! The Bank should be a rockin'!

Kyler will be fun to watch.  I’m imagining there will be a handful of highlight reel plays every game that keep things interesting.  No matter how much he flubs the first chunk of the game, you’re probably just going to be one big run and a throw back into the game, so most games will be within reach up until the end.

Will it transfer to wins?  Hopefully.  Will it be fun to watch?  I think so.  We’re not that jaded with Kyler yet.
