Is this the least you’ve been excited for a season?

….. at least in recent memory???

Maybe it’s preseason that resembled wet dog shit. Maybe it’s the litany of question marks that surround Kyler Murray. Maybe it’s the questions surrounding how good of a coach KOC actually is. Maybe it’s just me…

But this is the least amount of hype I’ve EVER had going into a season…and that’s including Darnold’s year (and I thought Sam was a fucking joke). I mean I’m gonna watch the games, but I have less than zero faith in K1. And this team will only go as far as he takes them. Therefore I have almost no faith in this offense.

I think the defense is good enough that they’ll be in every game this year regardless of opponent, but I don’t know if the offense can keep up their end of the bargain unless Kyler (by some miracle) can regain his form from more than half a decade ago. I hope I’m wrong.

I could make a case for Kyler going off for 4 total TD and beating Green Bay’s ass in week one. I could also make an equally compelling case for him throwing 3 picks and being an absolute disaster. I’m more dreading the game than I am excited for it.

I was SO HOPING this was going to end this ridiculous QB cycle.
One this franchise has had at QB for the better part of decades.

Yep, its kind of depressing as a fan. Here we are again hoping another castoff lights it up. I guess the best we can do is take it year by year.

There's more than one way to win a Super Bowl. A castoff won the Super Bowl last year. Three of the last six Super Bowl winners were led by castoffs. It's not by design. Ideally you draft your franchise QB, but it doesn't always work out that way.

I thought about it for a while, trying to answer the question - what season was I least excited about? I went through decades of memories. When did I feel, before we ever kicked off, for sure like it was going to suck and suck and suck some more?

I rarely feel that way, but it finally hit me. The 2011 Les Frazier Vikings with Donovan McNabb. A rookie coach I didn't have much faith in, a washed vet qb I never liked in the first place, rookie Ponder who turned out to be a bust. A 3-13 record. Winning a late, meaningless game at Washington to drop us out of the RGIII/Luck draft slot, and watching AD blow his knee out, though thanks to his remarkable physical ability, he was back the next year stronger than ever. Yup, I knew it was going to suck, and it did.

But I'm looking forward to this year. Sure, it could suck, but it could also be a lotta fun. We'll find out pretty soon which way we're going.

Yeah, I think 2011 is probably it for me. Viking fans are actually pretty fortunate to have many reasons for hope on their rosters going back to the Randy Moss draft. Moss led into Daunte, which led into Adrian, which led to Favre and Harvin. Seriously, some of the best offensive players the league has ever seen.

Then there's a gap between Favre and the Zimmer years (2011-2013), which were the Ponder years, the Frazier years. There just wasn't a lot to get excited about besides Peterson.

I think if someone's not excited about this season, it's either because they're not paying attention or they're still butt-hurt over the QB competition.
