Let thread starters sink their thread?

This is already an admin function on a lot of forums but I have always thought that the thread owner should be able to save face by setting their own thread as sunk so that new replies don't bump it anymore. It doesn't eliminate the thread and people could still find it through their profile replies listing but it doesn't get bumped up in the thread listing.

Thoughts?

When quoting/rsponding to a post with X/twitter in it, is it possible for that link to be included in whats being quoted? Right now it says "embedded item" or something like that...

Some of the guys here are preparing a "request to sink poster" idea for you to implement, Mike. 😀

the link possibly, but I am wary of showing the tweet over and over every time it is quoted. There is a fallback card that gets displayed if the user can't access twitter at work. Perhaps we could include that fallback card in place of the actual tweet.

I, personally like the "Request to sink thread" option. I'm not sure about the community voting on it. That could have the potential of turning ugly. JMHO.

would kind of negate the idea of sinking a thread IMO.

When quoting a post with a gif, is there a way to include the gif in the quote? I just quoted a post from JIT that was only a gif & it did not show up in my post.

Hmm I intentionally didn't have that behavior to cut down on images and gifs and tweets not reposting over and over. It can be a bit of a resource hog doing that and it makes threads longer. I duno I can revert that if we really want it.

That is fine. I actually got to thinking that after I asked about it. Makes total sense.
