Let thread starters sink their thread?

This is already an admin function on a lot of forums but I have always thought that the thread owner should be able to save face by setting their own thread as sunk so that new replies don't bump it anymore. It doesn't eliminate the thread and people could still find it through their profile replies listing but it doesn't get bumped up in the thread listing.

Thoughts?

It seems to be working now but I don't have xitter so I can't test it myself.

A "Preview Post" option would be nice, so that we can preview our post before actually hitting "Post Reply", particularly until we come up to speed on the proper formatting of X ,YouTube, etc.

I don't hear anyone else talking about this, so maybe I'm just an idiot, but a couple things.

• On the previous board, you had the option to click to read the latest reply in a thread and not have to wade through the entire thread. Can we add back that feature?

• There also doesn't appear to be a way to reply to a specific post within a thread. I'm sure I'm just missing something because this would seem to be an obvious forum function. What am I missing?

I'm loving the ease of just copying a photo and pasting it directly into the reply box, well done! Also the gif option right there on a thread is helpful. Good stuff.

OK, now I see the quote function. I swear to god it wasn't there a minute ago. And neither was that pink elephant by the door.

Is there a way to tell if there are new posts that I haven’t yet read in a thread?

Yes there are thread indicators below the persons avatar.

This post in How To’s and Questions covers it

Used to be able to quote a post and then edit the quoted post in the response...

So we could in the quote bold a portion, change color of a portion or just edit the quote to the one line you are responding to.

I am adding a weekly pickem game this year that will all be managed by the site automagically. Will post the rules in a bit, but it should be pretty fun.

@purplefaithful  this seems to be working now. I also made it so the quote includes ALL the text. Before it was truncating at a certain point and I realized that may make it so that you don't end up quoting the part that you wanted to quote.

I liked knowing who was online and in various threads. It was just helpful to know which users were still there and whether should you expect a response. I could be missing it.

We can do that but I just need to know where to show it. Currently on the view where it lists the threads it shows who all has posted in those threads. Where do we think I should show who is online in those threads?

So like this shows who posted in the thread. where to put the "Who's browsing this thread" list? And keep in mind mobile versions have less space to work with.

If you click on the "Forum" tab that shows the different forums, it shows who's currently on line & in which forum they're in. The Longship, Sensitive Topics, etc.

I have an idea about clicking a show who's browsing button that opens a modal to show that. That could work and not take up too much space.
