Kwesi Fired...
WOWSA...I'm a little shocked still. Do the Wilfs frequent these boards?

Well at least he’s a football guy. Maybe un-geeking the process, will you know, yield to the drafting of football players.
Too much old Colt drafting PTSD for me. Sam just got to the SB and we lost Kwesi, there could be a bigger round of firings if Sam wins the SB and is named MVP given what has taken place today.
Im happy. Good move. Thanks Wilfs

Agree. I really think this has a lot more to do with the 2025 offseason decisions than it does the draft: Massive amount of cap going to marginal players like Hargrave, Allen, and Fries. Add to that Ingram, Blackmon, Bradbury, Phillips, Howell, Jones....and the starting QB in the Super Bowl.
Why would this be on Kwesi? If anything, I would think that would be damning for KOC. Like we had the guys, they didn't work under our coaches. Send them someplace else and now they are good? That said, the defense was for the most part perfectly fine statistically over the course of the season, so it's hard to fault anyone too much when you're top 3 in defense.
Okay, let's look at the record.
Yeah, he whiffed badly on some draft picks (his initial first rounder is not in the league anymore...we know that). But we also all realize that the draft can be a bit of a crap shoot. So I'll cut him some slack.
But last year...look at some of the decisions.
Put all your marbles in the JJM basket. Let Darnold walk after a 14-3 season. Let Danny Dimes walk...for less money to the Colts. No serious backup plan for JJM. (Sorry, Carson Wentz signed right before TC was over, after realizing that Sam Howell wasn't going to cut it...doesn't cut it, nor is having a UDFA going to work in his first season in the NFL).
Spend over $300 million on FA's. The result was anything BUT a cohesive OL starting five for the season. Some injuries, yes, and some flareups of old injuries. Javon Hargraves on DL? Hardly an impact player.
Yes, there were some solid hits. But some really expensive misses.
The fact that the OL coach was let go right after the season was a hint.

Well like I"ve said, we just don't know who lobbied for those decisions, but the owners do. Or at least they did after those meetings that just took place. It could be that some very KAM-damning things were said about how those decisions were made. Just a guess though.

"Throughout the season, there was talk about an underlying "tension" in the Vikings' building in league circles, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. One league source told Schefter it had been "ugly" in Minnesota. The timing was unusual, as Adofo-Mensah had given a postseason news conference on Jan. 13 and had spent this week in Mobile, Alabama, scouting Senior Bowl practices. He is seven months removed from signing what the Vikings called a multiyear contract extension. The team had no immediate comment."
Something happened. Someone either threatened to leave or something reared its head with Kwesi. I mean, he was just in Mobile for the Senior Bowl, lol. YESTERDAY.
This feels most right to me too.
I just don’t get the vibes that there was anything but consensus in the plans. It doesn’t feel like he did anything rash and on his own that would strike people the wrong way.
I could also imagine pressure’s building because the team underperformed, but it feels weird that we would fire Kwesi. The next GM doesn’t really have any say in the roster. Probably puts a little extra pressure on KOC. I have to imagine that he’s out after next year if we’re not contending for a SB.

Frauds all around. And I just can't believe it given the timing.

If she's reporting it, it can only mean this is 100% about one person and one person only: Aaron Rodgers. :P
But Russini knew....

Talking to Vikings staffers: This was not at all expected to happen at this point in the calendar. Many are blindsided. There had certainly been a lot of tension in recent weeks and months, and a lot of murkiness within decision-making process.

Brez is in charge of the operations, sounds like Grigson will run the draft.
What the hell are the Wilfs doing!? Again, they make some of the shittiest football decisions I've ever witnessed. They are awful

Dude, no matter what they do you hate it.
Dude, because it's deserving of hate
Lol. More roller coaster ride I guess. Well some people will have to find something else to complain about. KOC will have more say in the draft and the GM options are more limited now. It's going to be interesting to see how resources are allocated on offense and defense. This was really poorly handled though. This draft is going to be something else
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. — Robin Williams
And it's ok, ya'll can say I was right about Kwesi

So I heard last year that KOC wasn't a massive fan of KAM. I think we're going to start hearing some stuff now about his incompetence in a real way, let the stories come out....
You've got a little birdy in the organization don't you? We don't need to hear from said birdy. Just interesting that BFlo took forever on his contract. We heard of tension. Then this. At first I assumed it was BFlo causing the tension. Maybe it wasn't Brian. Maybe it was KAM and his bullshit drafting.
This scouting can't be that damn hard. Let coaches, coach. Get the guys they want. Quite being cute in the draft. No massive trades for no compensation. Just get the picks 50% right and we'll be golden.

Remember, we heard nothing about Rick and Mike not speaking until well after they were canned. Give this a couple weeks, if that, and I suspect we're going to find out what's behind the "tensions."

Credit where credit is do. Take a victory lap.
The real question, is who do they have to hire to make you happy?
We're what 80ish days out from the draft? To do a real GM search and interview enough people, I'd think you could get it done before then. I guess they don't want a new GM coming in without turning over the rest of the staff prior to the draft?
Would a top GM to be take a job where they won't have a say in their first draft nor over free agency? Seems like they should start interviewing now and if they find the person they want go ahead and make the move.

Imagine this future headline: "Vikings promote Ryan Grigson to General Manager"

Florio on PFT pretty much said the same thing in so many words.
"Today’s move suggests that O’Connell will have more power in 2026, especially as it relates to the structure of the quarterback depth chart.
It also suggests that, a year ago, O’Connell didn’t want to let Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones leave in free agency. And that O’Connell perhaps didn’t want to say “no thank you” to Aaron Rodgers. J.J. McCarthy, who missed all of his rookie year with a knee injury, clearly was not ready. The Vikings absolutely needed a veteran backup plan better than signing Carson Wentz less than two weeks before the first game of the regular season."
