But it’s a returning player that might have the biggest impact! #skol pic.twitter.com/lDRAGKQ1hn
Must watch tv.

His flashes were truly brilliant. That sack on Caleb Williams was just insane. This should be a big jump year for him. Fingers crossed.

Turner would be a full time starter on most teams and have plenty of splash plays cuz he is gifted. However Flo being old school guru of complex defenses a gifted stud like Tuner needs to fit the system and not the other way around.

I agree. I have no concern about Dallas Turner. The fact that he was behind Greenard, Gink AND a resurgent Pat Jones, and the fact that he was in a notoriously complex Flores defense, and the fact that he was an especially young rookie (almost 3 years younger than Jared Verse), and the fact that he had 3 sacks in only 247 snaps, which is a 12-sack per season pace, makes me think we'll be just fine.
But honestly, I don't expect a huge year for him in 2025. He'll still be behind (or rotating with) two pro bowlers. I'll say 8 sacks in '25. I think 2026 is when he explodes. Patience is required. Randle didn't have double digit sacks until his 3rd season. After two seasons, Chris Doleman had 3.5 sacks.
I dont expect a leap to 16 sacks this season either - for all the reasons posted since last season.
But boy, we really need to see significant improvement and we need JJM to pan-out as well.
The 24 draft is one of the most important I can remember in a long, long time for this franchise.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
I actually believe he is going to have a very good season. If he plays the way he played at the end of last season, he will be just fine.
I think he'll matter a ton in terms of pressures/hurries, as well as TFL. The sack numbers may or may not be sexy, but his athleticism and drive should have him disrupting backfields all season long.
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....
I think he’ll be fine. I don’t really think we need him to be exceptional or anything. Like if he can replicate what Jones did, that’s good enough. If we get more than that, even better. He’ll probably never live up to his draft hype if he’s playing behind 2 Pro Bowlers, and people shouldn’t be holding him to account when that’s out of his control.

I’m going to take the over and get him into low double digits. 10.5, maybe 3 FF, a couple picks, and dozens of ohmygoddidyouseethat! moments.

I want him to be great and I want to buy his jersey haha, but I'm still not sure. Lots of guys flash and make the leap, others don't.
He and JJ McCarthy are easily the two biggest question marks and to some degree bellwethers for this team. If they both turn out to be good players that will be amazing for this franchise. If they can both do it early-- hooo look out.
HAVING SAID THAT, regarding the, "he's sitting behind a stud, he's great, his time will come!" argument, it's kind of garbage. There's many better ways to defend DT in my opinion. Everyone said the same thing about Alexander Mattison and when the team finally needed him to step up: woof. Cream rises to the top and even stubborn redbleeps like Mike Zimmer couldn't keep Justin Jefferson off the field for long. If Turner can play, we'll know quickly this season.
Signing two top edge rushers in free agency and then going into the draft with OL, DL and CB as top needs, I have no idea how you trade a 3rd, 4th and 5th to move up to get another edge rusher. It is not so much about the player, but the move, was just an awful pick considering what our needs were and what we gave up. With the extension for Van Ginkel, Turner will not be a starter on this team for some time, you get your rotational guys later in the draft, not with a 1st rounder and 3 additional picks.
KAM just finished season three of his regime, and when the t.v. show "Dallas" ended season three it did so with the famous "Who Shot J.R.?" cliffhanger.
I guess the Vikings cliffhanger might be "Who Drafted Dallas Turner?" We'll see how it turns out.

Not a chance. If he hits five sacks this year (given that he is spelling Greenard and Van Ginkel), I think that's admirable. Maybe 6.
Having said that, I expect big things out of Greenard and Van Ginkel in their second year in BFlo's defense.

I’ll take over 6 for $250.

Bud Grant always said he saw the biggest advancement in a young player's game was in year 3. Maybe that's going back in time too far, but it's still football. I'll be happy with a few flash plays this year from Turner, especially if they come at the right time (like to kill an opponent's game winning drive).

With Turner moving into Patrick Jones role as the top rotational rusher, he should get at least twice as many snaps. Patrick Jones had 8 sacks last year and Dallas Turner is much more talented as a pass rusher.
I'll take the over too.

Yeah, let's not forget those two Pro Bowl edges. Gink was actually All Pro and he wasn't even as good as Greenard. Vikings just gave Gink a big extension. If they stay healthy, with added interior pressure from Allen and Hargrave, those two are going to be even better. As will Turner in the Jones role. But anyone who thinks Turner should be considered a bust or disappointment if he doesn't replace one of those two players in the starting lineup this year is being naive.
I think having 3 legit pass rushers is huge in today's NFL where you can scheme mismatches and get after the QB. I think the Vikings have the top edge group in the NFL. Turner is going to ball out this year in that 3rd role and gives us invaluable depth. I have zero concerns about Dallas Turner.
And if anybody needed a smile put on their face today, refer to the video below..

That was a thing of beauty. AVG is anything but average. He has a great knack for sniffing out plays.

I think Gibbs is still feeling that one.
