Maybe some fans don't like Kirko, but the guys that play with him sure the hell do:

You'll miss the erudite, puffing a pipe in his smoking jacket Dr. Kirko Hyde who just balled out like a maniac.  His storied greatness keeps Viking twitter rolling as he rocks his chains on some airplane soaring on high.  Oh the majesty of it!

But you won't miss slovenly Mr. Kirk Jekyll who flubbed up the Charger game, lined up to take a snap from a guard, checks down on 4th and season along with numerous other famous brain farts and a near total lack of playoff runs or wins.

The sarcasm meter was deep in the red on this.  B)

Time will tell. Kirk's lack of mobility is my real major drawback with him, it would come in very handy in today's NFL. But he's got a very underrated skill set....very. I just don't see how Minnesota is going to let him walk in 2024 with nothing going. Will be interesting.

there will be a learning curve,  but we cant let the fear of the unknown prevent the team from trying, with Kirk in the mix we will keep being good but not good enough IMO,  for guys that are just happy with making the playoffs that is enough,  but I would like to see them reach for something better,  even if they come up short, its better than knowing how next year is going to end before the season starts every year.  But I will concede that we are unlikely to draft a better passer when given time.

I hear you and I want a QB drafted high by Minnesota next Spring. I love JJ McCarthy but I think he's working his way up to #3 QB territory, just a level down from Williams and Maye. Might end up being out of Minnesota's draft range.

Unless the wheels fall off or we find out he has been getting the defensive calls so he knows what he will be facing,  I wouldnt be bothered by making a move up for him,  of course that would be much easier if we were picking 12-15 instead of 20,  but regardless,  we need to get a guy into the mix and McCarthy seems to be what I am looking for from the little I have seen.  Good passer with decent mobility,  but doesnt look to run often.

wait until he does a game where Kirk is not the darling,  Aikman is about as wishy washy as they come.
Josh Allen throws "punt INTs" with terrifying regularity, and remains on studmuffin lists all over.  Mahommes has some true stinkers. So does Herbert, just not enough against us.

What I find funny is the ABSOLUTE DETERMINATION IN HIS OWN FAN BASE of people to make sure to get the knocks in against Cousins, good or bad game, every single time.

Kirk's INT was on a tight window throw that Addison lost the fight for, something we've also seen with TJ and KJ this season.  Given that previous knocks against Kirk were "too conservative", it's obvious that for a certain chunk of people, his way will always be wrong...win or lose.

It occurs to me that I got Jekyll and Hyde backwards there.  It could be a sign of the impending Kirk-pocalypse!

That lack of mobility may be one of the reasons he plays every game, every season. Before Kirk, we would start what, 2-3 quarterbacks a season? Cousins typically takes a lot of hits, but its not like the ones the running quarterbacks take down the field.

I hope that KOC can identify a tier 2 QB that he likes because it looks like that's where we'll be shopping.

people need to understand that there is a difference between a running QB ( a QB that has a lot of designed runs,  and/or is not comfortable in a pocket and is to quick to tuck it and run)  vs a mobile QB which is a QB that can move effectively in the pocket,  has good pocket awareness,   is able to break the pocket but still keep his eyes down field to make plays,  but when the D has their backs to him... is able to take those free 10-15 yards and get down our OB without taking any big hits.   you dont have to find the next Vick to add a mobile element that this O sorely lacks with Kirk at QB,  will it offset losing his passing acumen,  possibly,  but Kirk isnt going to last forever and his contract demands dont seem to be getting much cheaper so we are going to have to look for alternatives if we are hoping to keep all  the younger talent we have.

Well, we are just finishing up Kirktober, so we'll see if he can sneak in another W.

If this past draft's rumors were any indication, then I don't think this regime will shy away from making a big trade to get a guy they want. I do think guys like Maye & Williams will be almost impossible to trade up for, but guys like McCarthy & Ewers (and certainly others) could definitely be had with the right package. Still a lot of time to go before draft talk can get serious, but anytime a QBOTF is involved it's always fun to talk about.

Totally agree. Its especially fun to talk Draft when there's a pretty good chance your team will take a QB high.

A mobile QB presents big challenges for defenses. But you have to have the rest of the package or it makes no difference. Think about how many mobile QBs there are who just don't have the rest of the package. Dak, Daniel, Murray, Wilson, Pickett, Wilson, Ridder, Howell... The list is pretty damn long. It just doesn't make much difference how mobile these guys are if they don't have the leadership, poise, accuracy, etc...all the things Cousins has in spades.

I'm pretty certain the Vikings will draft a QB in the spring, but there's almost no chance they will put JJ, JA, TJ and that emerging OL in the hands of an unknown kid. IOW, it's pretty damn likely Cousins gets extended. The rest of the season will have a lot to say about that, but if the season ended tomorrow, that's what would happen.
