The Green Bay Packers have given New York permission to speak with Rodgers.

This whole thing has been so weird. Part of me thinks its not going to happen.

Maybe this is just another sign of how things are changing with how NFL teams do biz?

Totally agree. Not everything has to be so cloak and dagger. I thought the same thing. The NFL needs to loosen up, not everything is a CIA secret ops situation.

Here's another one; KAM trading within the Division - with GB no less!

New York and the Green Bay Packers have yet to come to trade terms.
Douglas worked as a scout for the Ravens from 2000-2014 and has relationships with that front office, but he wouldn't bite.
"First
of all, Lamar Jackson is a fantastic player, but where we stand is, it
would be disingenuous and negotiating in bad faith if we went down that
path," Douglas said. "We have our plan, we have our process and we're
sticking to that. ... We're never going to operate in bad faith."
ESPN
reported Monday that the Packers want compensation for Rodgers that
includes the Jets' first-round draft pick, No. 13 overall, but the Jets
are balking at the request.
While it would be beneficial for
Rodgers and the Jets for him to be on board when the offseason program
begins in mid-April, Saleh implied he isn't in a hurry because of
Rodgers' familiarity with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who
held that job in Green Bay for three seasons.
"If there's a great
rapport with the coordinator, there's really no urgency," Saleh said.
"The quarterback, if he understands the system, if the quarterback knows
it, it's just a matter of just refining skills and doing all that
stuff. So, there's no hurry."
Saleh also said he'd like to pair free agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr. with the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
Saleh said the Jets are intrigued by the 30-year-old veteran.
"He's
been a fantastic receiver in this league," Saleh said. "Everything you
hear about him, he's a phenomenal person. That's something you're always
going to look over, turn over every stone, cross your Ts, dot your Is,
just make sure you're, you're not missing an opportunity to add a great
player. And there's no guarantee anything will happen."
I'm so over this whole soap opera. Until I see confirmation that the deal is done I don't even glance at the noise beyond the headlines. Regurgitating the same BS over and over.

- No timeline on trading Aaron Rodgers, hoping soon
- Doesn’t necessarily need a first-round pick
- Any chance Rodgers plays for GB again? Not trending that way but “all options are on the table”
Aaron Rodgers Trade Rumors: Jets, Packers Reengaged; Hope Deal Done Within Week
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets "recently re-engaged" in trade discussions about the star quarterback "after a dormant couple weeks." The two sides hope to agree on a deal this week, although it "is not imminent," per Rapoport.
With the 2023 draft quickly approaching, it makes sense why the two sides are feeling urgency.
Perhaps the Packers will move up from their No. 15 slot to New York's No. 13 slot with a Rodgers trade. Otherwise, maybe an additional middle-round pick will help generate the momentum needed to reach the finish line.
At this point, it has been more than a month since Rodgers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and said he wanted to join the Jets.
It seemed like an inevitable conclusion at that point, and perhaps it still is even after so much time has passed. After all, the Packers seem poised to move forward with 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love under center.
The Jets also don't have much leverage considering they are perhaps only a quarterback away from being a true contender. Their defense finished fourth in the league in both yards and points allowed per game last season, and they boast a talented group of skill-position players that includes wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall.
The lack of significant leverage on either side could be contributing to the delay. The Jets have only $8.6 million in available cap space, so they'll need to make some accompanying moves to take on Rodgers' contract as well.
Still, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated wrote Wednesday that "chances are very high that Rodgers will become a Jet between now and early Friday night."

F that. If we trade 2x 1sts to the Packers I'm going to drive the 14hrs to join the angry mob.
Well, lets get reflective for a minute...
The Packers have had HOF QB'ing since what 1992 thru 2022?
That's 30 years of Rogers and Favre. CRAZY
If Love gets em 40 years of HOF QB'ing? I know I was born in the wrong football era.
Waiting to hear the conditions on next year’s pick. If it does wind up being a first that’s a pretty good haul for them, all things considered.

Bite your tongue.

Wow they really took the Jets to the cleaners, a 1st and 2nd for a guy on the last legs of his career and who is a total obnoxious me guy. Was hoping the Packers would not get too much, this is a great move for them.
From ESPN:
"The Packers agreed Monday to deal quarterback Aaron Rodgers and their 2023 first round pick (No. 15 overall) and a 2023 fifth-round pick (No. 170) to the Jets for New York's 2023 first-round pick (No. 13 overall), a 2023 second round pick (No. 42), a 2023 sixth-round pick (No. 207) and a conditional 2024 second-ro0und pick that becomes a first if Rodgers plays 65% of the plays this season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday."
So..it's really 2 second round picks (assuming Rodgers plays 65%) plus a swap of #1 picks and a swap of GB's 5th for a NYJ 6th.
Seems like a lot of swapping to make it look like GB got more for him. Looks like they got a #2 and conditional #2 and gave up a #5.
