The connections from the past might be a very good reason. Evero spent time with Kwesi in San
Francisco and 2 years with OConnell with the Rams. 

Yes but he'd be leaving a top 10 unit and a roster he is already familiar with for what, the Vikings heaping pile of shit on defense? I think if he doesn't get a head coaching job, and Payton want's him, then Payton is going to get him.

Flores is a great choice as well, but could already be in contract negotiation for the HC job in Arizona, but they're interviewing other candidates now, so it seems they may have moved on. 

Pettine is qualified, but knowing he had a hand in this year's debacle is unsettling. 

I want nothing to do with last season's staff and that includes Pettine. Whether it's Evero, Flores, Desai, etc. I want them to bring in their own coaches. There was nothing on our defense that performed to even below average standards so none of them should be back IMO.

I agree.

His best opportunity to become a HC is by remaining Denver’s DC if he is not hired this year by the Colts or AZ. 

So it looks like Fangio really will sign with the Dolphins and will not join Sean Peyton in Denver - that would have been odd . . . going back to Denver as DC one year after they fired him as HC. So Peyton needs to decide if he wants Evero to stay on as DC, assuming Evero does not get a HC job. Seems like a pretty easy decision. 

I think there's a good possibility here the Vikings might get caught with their pants down on this deal. I think the smart money is that if Evero does not get a head coaching job, he is going to be back in Denver as their defensive coordinator. I think the want list is in this order:

1. Evero
2. Flores
3. Desai
4. Pettine

Good chance we end up with our 3rd or 4th choices here

I think I'll just step back and let all the dust settle and see whose left standing...

starting to look like I may have to just take the damn job after all.

I said a while back it was going to be Pettine because every other guy is gonna look at the empty cupboard and figure that's a mountain climb with an uncertain payoff, career-wise.  

We seem to be inching closer to that reality.  If Flores gets the Arizona job I'd expect a Pettine as DC announcement within a day, or two at the most.

The #Vikings requested permission to interview #Broncos DC Ejiro Evero for the same job, per source. Coach Sean Payton has spoken to Evero about his old job, but has not given freedom to speak with teams.

Meanwhile, Denver requested Brian Flores & Sean Desai for their DC job.

My thoughts on the job: if a coach is hesitant because of the current roster, I don’t want him anywhere near the team in any capacity. I have no time for these “hot names” who for the most part are a crap shoot anyway. That mindset though, of deciding based on current roster….got no time for that. A good coach will maximize what they have and produce a much improved product than they have been putting out on the field. 

Ejiro Evero should be our number 1 target in my opinion and by a significant margin.

kind of sore subject in my house right now.  I had a place I wanted to be,  she didnt like the lake so we didnt make an offer and we could have had a great location for what is a damn nice price but somebody else jumped in and took it while we were still in deliberation...   :s

Sources: The #Broncos are allowing defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero out of his contract and he’s expected to interview with the #Vikings. He’s considered a strong candidate in Minnesota, along with Brian Flores.
