Jets to move on from Wilson
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jets-expected-to-move-on-from-former-no-2-overall-pick-zach-wilson-this-offseason-per-report/
He's been really bad. But honestly, the kid was overrated coming out of college. The NFL is the league of 2nd and 3rd chances, but I wonder what anyone would give up for him. It won't be much and if the Jets ask too much, they'll end up with zero takers. I don't doubt there will be a handful of teams with interest, but honestly....if they are patient, what choice would the NYJ have ultimately other than cutting him outright? I think NFL teams are ready to cut bait much quicker on first round QB busts than at anytime in history.
Wow, that was fast.
I wouldn't be too tempted by Wilson. Like I said before, teams don't move on from #2 overall picks in only their 2nd season unless they are 100%--not 80, not 90--but 100% convinced he'll never be a starting NFL QB. And the Jets know things we don't.

Totally agree. The rumor is he's very immature. Zero leadership. Kind of sheltered out there in Utah before the NFL, didn't do a lot of mingling with teammates in college.
I thought his game last Thursday was the most brutal performance at qb I've seen in years. Then I watched the Malik Willis Titans on Saturday.
I would give him a chance to curate in Eagan for a 4th and compensatory pick based on performance. He wont have to start for 2 seasons.
Anybody else remember this image from Wilson's Draft Day? Made me wonder instantly whether he was a good fit for NY where you have to be bigger than life.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWxowlLV3QU
Wilson spent his whole life as big man on campus...I mean the guy took TWO BYU cheerleaders to his high school graduatio. All of a sudden he's thrust into the big lights of the NFL as well as the NY market and expected to contribute immediately. His predraft analysis showed him having a big and accurate arm but struggling to get through his reads with a tendency to just chuck it up when he was in trouble. I also think he's a White, Suburban Mormon and probably wasn't ready for what is the NFL these days. At least Kirk knows how to channel his inner awkwardness.
Would Wilson be better served in someplace like Minny with KOC's motivation and not being forced to be the answer? Probably? Can he overcome some of his fatal flaws? Not sure. He does have a gun and throws extremely well on the run. There's talent
He was definitely the deer in headlights guy. NY is not the place for him. He came across as arrogant and entitled. What a waste of a draft pick
Wilson was a gun slinger in college and hasn't really displayed good decision making in the NFL. The arm and ability to extend plays is there, but he's playing hero ball. He rarely utilizes his check downs and forces balls downfield (for better or worse). It's why he was benched and Mike White became the starter. White doesn't have the same talent as Wilson, but he wasn't holding back the offense by making bad decisions.

IMHO usually where there is smoke, you'll eventually see the fire.

In fairness, it's his ex-girlfriend that is now dating Wilson's best friend and roommate from BYU, Dax Milne, who is a WR for the Commanders. The accusation certainly keeps her from answering some awkward questions....

I know that's a stretch, but if the price is right? I would seriously think about letting him mentor here under KOC/KC.

Favre played like 4 snaps total in Atlanta, and never displayed the utter ineptitude of Wilson. They're not ditching a #2 overall this fast because he's full of untapped potential.

What part of the Jets organization leads one to trust them as QB talent evaluators ? They've changed personell but remember the people saying he is a bum are rhe same ones that drafted him. Maybe rhey are really sure of their poor pick, or maybe they don't know what they are doing to start with? Consider all the holes this team has and the need for a future QB, if we could turn a mid to late round pick, especially a conditional pick based on him making the game day actives or some other bench mark, then I am all for taking a swing, I would prefer that over packaging a bunch of day 1 picks and make a run for a high round 1 pick to use on somebody equally questionable. The kid needs to grow up, but that can happen with pretty much any pick and i cant think of a worse place than NY for an immature kid to get sent to, except maybe Vegas. Although all those Bachelorette parties in Nashville would be damn distracting as well I would imagine.

Well what QB did they draft and then release that went on to be something? Sanchez? Nope. Darnold? Nope, he's sucked in Carolina.

Were Sanchez and Darnold this same management regime?

No. No way. He has a gun? His last game he had receivers wide open and didn't have the arm to get the ball to them. Why would a great coach want to take on a project QB with limitations? The Vikings already have a QB with deep ball accuracy. Better be looking for someone with the same accuracy, and some mobility if you want the Vikings to have future success.

So you are on board with drafting a unicorn? Kirk's accuracy is near the top of the game, adding mobility to his accuracy is a great goal, just dont think you find that guy in time to replace Kirk as thats about a once every 5 to 10 years type of player.

Nope, but what's the fascination with giving up a pick (or picks) for someone else's failed QB? Wilson has enough red flags to stay away... just flip on some of his games from the past two seasons and it ain't pretty. If the Jets are ready to move on, that should tell you all you need to know. They've been looking for their guy for years... and from the sounds of it... they are still looking for that guy.If the Vikings want to get someone to groom behind Kirk, I'd rather try our luck in the draft. That's all I'm saying.

Agree with you Wetlander. No way I want to see Wilson on the Vikes. They need to find their next QB in the draft. Keep Cousins at least a couple more years and prepare his replacement.
I know this isn't a what-QB-do-you-like-in-this-draft thread, but still. Putting aside the QBs likely to go in the first 2 rounds, I like Tanner McKee from Stanford. Like Herndon Hooker, he's a bit older than the ideal because he did a 2 year Mormon mission, but he's a 6'6" QB who is athletic enough and has really good arm talent. He should be available in the middle rounds. Give him a couple of years behind Cousins and we may have Cousins' eventual successor.
