Well….somebody is going to get him
The Indianapolis Colts now are open to trading star running back Jonathan Taylor, sources told @RapSheet and me. Multiple teams have reached out to Indianapolis, and those talks are said to be active and ongoing, according to sources. More on https://t.co/NcfwZLCjrb. pic.twitter.com/X2gYBnSFek

I don’t know what’s happening on the trade front, but this team desperately needs a RB that will give defenses something to think about. The mood feels like we're 1-6. PF said somewhere that the "energy" for a trade seems to have dissipated. Likely true. But Nolan can't think this way. This team is still 6-1 and a likely playoff participant. One loss and the mood from fans is like "oh dear, why even try."

So bring in yet ANOTHER QB? 10 QBs in four and a half seasons. As bad as Kyler's been, I think our best course of action is to stick with him. While I think a QB like Wentz or Cousins or Bubby Brister would give us an immediate boost, long term it would be fool’s gold and we’d regret it.
I think if we’re patient with Murray, the QB we see down the stretch will be a better QB than whatever immobile boomer we could turn to. In 2022, Doug Pederson took over the Jags offense and Lawrence struggled in it big time. He was horrible, worse than Murray's been for us so far. Second half of the season Lawrence was probably the best QB in the NFL. It happens.
Bringing in Cousins isn't fools gold, it would be going for it all. Is it smart - probably not - but there would be some validity of bringing in someone with immense ability. We have came awfully close with this strategy in the last 30 years, Farve, Cunningham My issue with Cousins has been he doesn't win the big game. With this defense would that change? I do think we are moving on from QB's too quick - JJ McCarthy Umhumh, but there is nothing from Murray that shows he can be average to elite. He isn't great going through progressions, he has had a ton of errant throws. I am just not seeing it. Maybe he gets incrementally better and thats all this offense needs, but right now I am at zero confidence with Murray and think Wentz is better.
The trade deadline is in one week.

The Vikings planned to be aggressive and active.
But there is a cloud of complex decision-making looming for 2027 on the QB and beyond, and it all intertwines:https://t.co/exZqLH1c9Z

Let me put it this way. Bringing in Cousins wouldn't surprise me if the frustration from the WRs continues. I just think it would be a mistake ultimately. And I say this as a big Cousins fan who didn't want to let him get away. I just don't think he's the same QB he was three years ago and he'd be facing the same problem: no running game and a vulnerable interior OL.

God I sure hope so, because I also don't like the idea of bringing in another QB off the street with possibly the exception of Cousins (I really can't believe I am saying this).

I'm not excited about bringing in another QB either to be honest. Where I'll tweak your post is that I actually think a soft benching of Murray this week is the best course of action.
Wentz gave us Average Quarterback Play earlier this year. That's all we need, right?
I agree with you that Murray offers the higher ceiling end of season but what good is that if he's too short to reach it? Letting Murray study and learn and get healthy this week while we get another gander at Wentz is the smartest and lowest risk move I think. We're not favored anyway and it's not a division game. If Carson wentz the bed then we go back to Kyler for the big matchup with Green Bay and maybe the WRs take it a little easier on Kyler moving forward. If he plays well that complicates things I guess but honestly Kyler has been so bad that if he plays well I think you just roll with it.
Stranger things have happened in the NFL than a 33 year old, top 2 selected quarterback playing good football. Skol!
Unless Teasley shocks the world (and me) we are going to live and/or die with K1/Wentz this year.
But as @MB posted, whoever is qb, they still need a better RB that can dictate how defenses play us.
Heck, there are still 10 whole games to play this season. Too many fans have thrown in the towel on a 6/1 team.
Plus I'm watching to see if this Hamstring Gate becomes a reality this week.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Its interesting: McCarthy had this same backfield last year and nobody said anything about it? 🤔 But now we need a super-back?
Not trying to bust your balls, but I'm trying to show we all have biases and narratives. Me included. And you included.

We are getting open. You have to come prepared. You have to make the routine plays. You have to be able to make the plays on time. - Vikings players
