Vet minimum is all I’d wager on Alexander. Or something heavily vested in incentives.

...this is the new "A-a-ron" rumor that keeps recycling.

He's fragile and expensive, I don't imagine that Kwesi is even vaguely interested.

KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

I wonder if we don’t have Gilmore or Griffin in our back pocket.

Good corner, can't stay healthy. Only 28. Now released, it wouldn't surprise me if there's a mutual interest here.

You can't pay a lot for him. You can't rely on him. If he's cheap, bring him in as a lottery ticket.

Only made a full season twice in his 7 years ( once in the last 4 ) and failed to make double digit games 3 times in those 7 years.... unless he really wants to play on the cheap, I think its to risky a move unless whoever we end up cutting in the end is of a talent level that can be found in FA during the season. Certainly wouldnt risk losing a kid with potential to make room for him.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Depends on the money. He can definitely help this team. We'd all feel better about the DB room any week that Alexander is able to play. That said, if I'm KAM I probably pass. McCarthy needs to prove it first, before I start considering these kinds of expensive, guaranteed, one-year vet deals.

Maybe bigger news than whether we should sign Alexander or not is what this does to an already iffy Packers secondary. Right now, according to Ourlads, they have a couple of below average corners in Hobbs and Nixon competing with three 7th rounders. They can't go into the season like that.

Someone is going to pay him IMO, probably on a one year $12-$15 million prove it contract. If Alexander really has a hard on for Green Bay during their negotiation process, he can stick it to them by signing with Minnesota. And obviously only if the Vikings are interested. Some other contender may offer a 2 year deal. Maybe. But that would be foolish. Might be a hot market for him, plenty of teams have cap space. Buyer beware for sure.

12-15 would be too rich for me.  8 sounds right for me.  I’d throw in some bonuses depending on games played or if he made the pro bowl or something.  I don’t really think he’s on a prove-it deal right now.  I don’t think you can prove your worth against an injury history like he has.  I think he’s a guy that you are gambling on the injury bug just not biting this year.  Even if he plays all 17+ games, I doubt he’s going into 2026 offseason and getting a big bag.  Ideally, I don’t think he’s a guy that you are going to fill a roster hole with.  I think he’s a guy you throw in an already decent CB room, and it just sort fills in all the gaps that happens with injuries over a season and bumps your good room to great when he’s playing.

I think he’ll be hard pressed to get more than a third of that. Maybe he gets to your numbers via play time incentives. That’s a 4 year track record of being unavailable. But, we’ve seen stupider contracts handed out.

That being said, I’d play up his payback factor and try to land him. God knows he’s way more likely to have some impact than Okudah. You wouldn’t have to rush Blackmon back whatsoever.

I didn't realize how much he was injured. I would say pass (pun intended)

I think this says it all about him, we have so many question marks at the position that we cannot afford to bring in another.  Also good point that he takes up a spot for someone with potential, imagine having to put someone like McGlothern on PS and he gets picked up by someone else.  Do not see them being interested.

Hard to say what is accurate online, but who knows? I still think final league cuts for the 53 man roster could provide Minnesota some cornerback depth.

Tyler Forness@TheRealForno
Jaire Alexander will be a Minnesota Viking by the end of the week. It makes too much sense

Tyler Forness@TheRealForno
Think about it

-If Jaire is washed, the Vikings love signing the most washed CB
-If he’s got something left, the medical staff will keep him healthy

Plus, Jaire is likely to want to play his former team twice a year on a team that needs CB help. Welcome to Minnesota

Dustin Baker@DustBaker
probably not a bold take, but i absolutely endorse the Vikings free-agent pursuit of Jaire Alexander. Would be the cake-topper of the offseason, and won't cost any draft picks, like Jalen Ramsey, for example, would via trade. Go get em

We'll find out soon enough, they cut him. Probably won't be popular here but I think Jaire could help the Vikings.

The #Packers are releasing star CB Jaire Alexander today, sources say.

Jaire Alexander was a complicated player to trade — he was owed $17.5M this season and had missed 10 games in each of the last two years, but he’s still only 28. Green Bay didn’t want to move on without getting something back, but a deal never came together.

Today, he’s finally getting released.

If he could be gotten very cheaply, the medical staff find him worth a shot, and he's got legitimate fuel left in the tank...go for it.

BUT...I'm mostly interested in the medical staff's opinion, tied with Flores'. Looking 'logical' ain't the same thing as attaining a good corner.

KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....
