If the team gets to 6/2...

I hate playing o'fer teams - dangerous. But lets make the assumption the Vikings don't beat themselves Sunday, cause the Browns shouldnt.

Where's the buzz though?  Among the fans or media?

That aside, are you starting to think this is a SB winning capable team? Always felt that going in? (liars), Other? I felt GB was going to take the North with 11+ wins. Vikes a 9 kinda win team.

3 home games after the bye; You see 5 more wins out there after Cleveland?

The amazing journey of Bjoern Werner (the guy drafted before XR)
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-26-2017, 01:26 AM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

In mid-January 2016, a few NFL news outlets picked up on an item from overseas: Former first-round pick Bjoern Werner announced his retirement on German TV, making him the first player from the 2013 draft class to retire. The articles focused on Werner as further evidence that Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson wasn’t fit for the job. Minnesota fans and media didn’t take notice at all. http://www.1500espn.com/vikings-2/2017/1...er-rhodes/

Browns head coach Hue Jackson has turned to Mike Zimmer in tough times
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-26-2017, 01:20 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (1)

It’s been a rough ride for Hue Jackson since he joined the Cleveland Browns as head coach last season. Jackson has just one win in 23 games and his offenses have ranked 31st and 32nd.
Jackson, who spent the 2007 season on the same Atlanta Falcons staff as Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer. The two have been close throughout their careers and Zimmer has been one of the people who have helped Jackson through his difficult start in Cleveland.

“There’s a group of men that I kind of lean on Mike being one of them,” Jackson said. “There’s a lot of sometimes four-in-the-morning calls or midnight calls that we kind of go through things and he keeps me from jumping off the ledge.”

Zimmer: Doctors will determine when Teddy Bridgewater returns
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-26-2017, 01:18 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (18)

Mike Zimmer said on Monday that Teddy Bridgwater will be on the trip to London as the Minnesota Vikings get set to play the Cleveland Browns. On Wednesday, Bridgewater may have seen more time with the first team at practice as Case Keenum was limited with a chest issue and Sam Bradford did not participate.
Zimmer went out of his way Monday or debunk a report that the Vikings did not want to start Bridgewater in London because of concerns about the grass. The Vikings’ quarterback has been back at practice for only one week after missing the last 14 months recovering from a severe knee injury.

Asked what will go into the decision of whether to activate Bridgewater during a 21-day window the Vikings have to take him off the PUP list, Zimmer pointed to the medical side.
“Pretty much the doctors,” Zimmer said. I think I know what I’m doing but it’s medical clearance at the end of the day.”

Once a concern, new-look Vikings' offensive line is cruising
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-26-2017, 01:04 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (11)

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — By far the biggest concern about the Minnesota Vikings at the beginning of this season has been alleviated for now, with a stout performance by the once-beleaguered offensive line.
The new look for this group has sure gone over well. Staying relatively healthy was a good start.
"They're just solid in everything they do," coach Mike Zimmer said.

The improvement has been almost staggering, though with an entirely new lineup it's hardly fair to compare this season with the debacle in 2016 that included eight starting combinations. The quarterbacks have been sacked nine times, the fourth-lowest total in the league. The Vikings are also tied for the NFL lead with 33 plays that gained 20 or more yards. Nine of those were runs, which ranks second in the league.
