  SUPPORT FOR SENDEJO
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-28-2017, 01:58 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (11)

Safety Harrison Smith was one of at least five Minnesota this week to wear homemade T-shirts that read “#FREEDEJO” in support of Andrew Sendejo. The safety was suspended for one game for a hit Sunday that left Baltimore wide receiver Mike Wallace with a concussion, and Sendejo didn’t travel to London.
“I wasn’t a fan of it,’’ Smith said of the suspension. “It’s not for me to say (if it was fair), but I’m always going to be on Dejo’s side.’’
Smith has kept in touch with Sendejo since the suspension was announced Monday.
“He’s one of my good buddies off the field as well,’’ Smith said. “You hate to see one of your buddies get suspended. I’m just making sure he’s good and ready to go when he comes back.’’
Anthony Harris is expected to replace Sendejo in the lineup.

Vikings owner Mark Wilf calls London ‘great experience,’ doesn’t rule out another visit
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-28-2017, 01:55 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (4)

LONDON — The Vikings have been to London twice this decade. Would they be willing to go again?
Vikings owner Mark Wilf said Friday that could be a possibility.
“Potentially,’’ Wilf said. “We’ve had a great experience so far here, and we will be supportive of the league’s efforts on the International Series wherever we can. So that could mean that.’’
In 2013, the Vikings gave up a home game and beat Pittsburgh 34-27 at Wembley Stadium. On Sunday, they will be the road team against Cleveland at Twickenham Stadium.
Wilf was noncommittal when asked if the Vikings would be willing to give up another home game to take part in the NFL International Series, which also includes games in Mexico City.
“I know we have that possibility as an option, but we have such a fan great experience (at U.S. Bank Stadium) and we’re trying to settle that in,’’ Wilf said. “Right now, we’re just focusing as a road team this week.’’

Aaron Rodgers: Vikings' Barr made obscene gestures after knockout play
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-27-2017, 02:33 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (41)

Rodgers wasn’t happy about the play when it happened, yelling some choice words at Barr as he went off the field. Packers coach Mike McCarthy called the play “totally unnecessary.” Barr later defended himself, saying he’s not a dirty player.

If you hoped those various news cycles were enough to cover the play, you were wrong. Rodgers was on with Conan O’Brien on Thursday, and the TV host asked Rodgers about the play.
Rodgers described what happened and then said “the cameras caught me saying something to him,” but they missed what Barr was doing back to him: giving the QB, according to Rodgers, a pair of obscene gestures.
Rodgers was kind of smiling as he retold the story, and he added, “There’s no respect anymore in this business.”

  The Ravens crushed the Dolphins

First off the win last Sunday looks much better after seeing the Ravens lay forty points on them and hold them to zero.

Secondly I watched the game again and the Vikings defense is just fast fast fast.

Vikings’ opponents are attacking Trae Waynes – how is he holding up?
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-27-2017, 01:53 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (21)

The Minnesota Vikings have a full-grown defense.
Built on first-round picks, patient development and savvy free agent signings, they have matured during Mike Zimmer’s time into one of the best in the NFL for three years running.

Opponents have very few options against a defense that sent players from every position group to the Pro Bowl. Running hasn’t been an option this year as the Vikings have given up just 3.2 yards per carry, good for third in the NFL.
Throwing at Xavier Rhodes isn’t much of an option as he’s grown into a top shutdown corner, giving up just 18 receptions for 184 yards this season. Safety Harrison Smith is the No. 1 ranked player at his position by Pro Football Focus and Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks are among the league’s best linebacker duos now that Barr is back to 2015 form.
And all of the Vikings’ success on defense runs through their ability to rush the passer with the front four.
That leaves Trae Waynes, a former first-round pick who has been slowly prepped for a starting corner job since being selected 11th overall in 2015. During his rookie year, he was only on the field for 18.1% of total defensive snaps. That number went up to 55.9% and this season he’s been on the field for 404 of 451 defensive plays (89.6%).
