Hill had a good day of practice today according to camp reports.  Won 1-1 matchups against Griffen and Hunter and held up will in pass pro during team drills.

It should also be noted, I'm reading from multiple sources that the Vikings run blocking is noticably better than last season with Hill and Remmers in at OT over Sirles and Clemmings.

I think the run blocking is more about the guys playing between the tackles.  The interior or the line seem more stout this year in the little I saw of them..also not that it's a different run block scheme as well.  Clemmings and Sirles weren't horrible at the run so much as they were the  pass .

I thought it was his ankle when it happened but they were really checking his knee over before they carted him off.  Good to hear as I think he looks pretty good over there.

Well that's interesting take because Boone, Easton, and Berger were our starting LG/C/RG late last season and these guys are still the starters early on in Training Camp.  I don't recall our running game being dramatically improved in December last year... so did these 3 guys suddenly get THAT much better?  Or can we attribute most of that improvement to upgrading our starting 5 offensive linemen by replacing Clemmings and Sirles at OT?

take what you want... our run game did improve later last season,  it still wasnt great,  but it did improve from the start of the year.  maybe it wasnt about replacing those 2 at OT as much as it was replacing the guys that started the season at OT, getting Fusco out,  Easton to C, and kicking Berger back to G where he is much better?  Kalil sucked at run blocking and Smith did absolutely nothing at RT last year.   its easy to point at the young guys and say thats the issue,  but I would say Boone sucked balls at pretty much every aspect of his game last year and Easton had us drafting a C early this year,  Berger  is Berger.

Maybe these guys are just playing better this year overall,  but it seemed stronger up front in person to me anyway.

Well, Zimmer might disagree.  He made sure to note that Remmers and Reiff were good run blockers and part of the reason they were pursued.  While Clemmings was noticeably horrid at pass blocking, I think he struggled at run blocking as well.  Kalil and Smith were lazy and the rest were deep backups that really shouldn't have been starting at OT.

Fusco and the interior were not very good either, so it was a group effort.

I would say one of the reasons these guys started blocking for the run better later in the year is because the offense in total had to get on the same page. Not the same QB they had in training camp, and losing the RB that you were geared up for who had a different running style than a Jerick McKinnon or Asiata was a big difference, not to mention our play selections changed when Norv left the team and we had to try to become a much more quick strike offense which likely changed how defenses played us. Because we didn't have the line for the slow developing plays that Norv wanted to run it was easier for defenses to key on run plays.

There was just so much fucked-uppedness from last year that I really have no idea what to expect on offense this year when looking at last year. I don't think there is much to take from last year and we really are going to have to wait and see what we get this year.

It's because McKinnon isn't a real running back.

Berger is good in his role as a fill in C/G, Easton is a weak link, and at this point Boone is Smoot#2.

Also Clemmings and Sirles don't belong on this team.
