The Official Odds for 2017 Mr. Mankato Training Camp AwardThe Official Mr. Mankato Committee has met, deliberated, and determined the list of eligible players — and corresponding odds — for the 2017 Minnesota Vikings season. And just in time for the final training camp in Mankato.
Let the fun begin.

Veteran Committee member Chris Long is the resident oddsmaker. He’s determined, among the players eligible this year, who are the most likely candidates. The past three awards went to Mankato’s own Adam Thielen, then Stefon Diggs and last year’s winner was safety Jayron Kearse. The first two blossomed into NFL star receivers. That’s what wearing the Mr. Mankato crown can do for a player.
We now turn our attention to this year’s contest. Play along at home if you’d like. The Committee members must have their endorsement cemented by 9 a.m. CT on Monday, July 24.
Without further ado…

Mr Mankato meaning someone who steps-up his game in camp, then preseason, and then contributes into the season or in the negative way some posters use to make fun of fellow fans who are pushing for a late round draft pick or UDFA?

Treadwell would be great if he was the former - meaning light goes on in camp - and he becomes a big contributor.

We have a host of late round guys that may "mankato-flash".  I have been all for Bucky Hodges even before the draft so he is going to be a big focus for me at least.

Lets go the positive route!  :)

It'll likely be an offensive player because that's all the media really watches for...  OL and defense don't move the needle for guys like Tomasson who can't even recognize a good haircut if he saw one...

I'll say Bucky Hodges or Rodney Adams for Mr. Mankato.

BOOM

Agree, in camp the average fan is not able to really see and determine OL/DL play.  Preseason you will start to see more but still favors offensive players big time.

Well, assuming we go with an under the radar first or second year player, I'll take All Vowels...

I'll take Hodges. That 6'6 frame mostly running against backups should get some oohs and aaahs.

I always assumed that Mr. Mankato was someone that overperformed in camp against backups and camp fillers but wasn't likely to replicate that in the regular season.

So hopefully Cook is out.  Hodges is a good bet.

It typically was someone who impressed in Training Camp and had everyone buzzing...  Adam Thielen is one of the few successful Mr. Mankato's in recent years.

I like Jaleel Johnson and Rodney Adams. I really like Adams as he could come in and do well in the return game right away

Yes he was.  One of the few that went from August All-star to regular season contributor.

This almost has to be a skill player.  I think there are too many people already excited about Adams, Floyd, Hodges and Cook for them to be Mr. Mankato.  To me, Mr. Mankato has to come out of nowhere and get people talking.  So I'll run with Isaac Fruechte.  He's following the Adam Thielen "work for it" route into the NFL.

I'm also rooting for MoBo to be that guy.  He's not exactly an obscure player, but I don't think very many people actually believe in him becoming a contributing player.  I want to see him go off for 8 catches and 100 yards in a preseason game.

Mobo was who I thought of as far as being obscure. For those who are in between obscurity and hopeful I will go with Rodney Adams. I really like this kid and think he has the work ethic and motivation to become a contributor even outside returning kicks.
