Hey guys, we'll be live on the mixlr app this Wednesday at 9pm talking some Vikings ball. We'll focus on the draft and team needs, plus some news and notes. Geoff will join us to discuss some options we have to fill important depth spots along the roster. You can join in the mixlr chat room and ask questions and interact with the show. Just follow the link.....http://mixlr.com/homers-radio/
Thanks!!
Also, were going to be kicking off a tournament this week to determine the Vikings All-Time GOAT. Some Valhalla Madness if you will. We've got it narrowed down to 16 guys who are seeded into 2 different brackets of offense and defense. You can follow along and vote @SkolShow on twitter. Should be a lot of fun!

There is no need for a tournament.
Anyone who knows Vikings knows Alan Page is the GOAT. He is Mr Viking, the spiritual soul of the franchise and seeded the character and personality of the brand today.
Defense.
Will it be recorded? 9Pm will be way past my bedtime!!!

It will be, yes! Ill post the link afterword!
@"Canthony" said:very debateable, what criteria are you using to compare the players? Career accomplishments, Lifetime accomplishments, Viking career accomplishments, Impact on the game, plenty of ways to stack the game and Moss is unlikely to win them all.@"KyVikesFan11" said: Head over to @SkolShow on twitter to vote for your picks. We’ll be doing the offense bracket’s first round this week, as well as the play in matchup for the D side. Moss wins it all. IMO shouldn't be debatable.

It is tough to compare a QB to an OL but if you have players from the same position, why not pair them? Compare Moss to Carter; compare Peterson to Foreman; Yary and McDaniel (not exact, but close), or McDaniel and Mick T. And pair the odd man out with Fran T.
On Defense, I guess I would have paired Page and Randle. Who is the play in? Joey Browner? Studwell?
Completely missed the Page mis-spelling and i checked it 10 times. Guess thats what happens when im checking it over at 3am on night shift. Had a non-Vikings fan make the graphic so that explains that. Fixed!
The play-in vote is Matt Blair, Browner, Millard & Winfield.
I saw Moss play and he changed the NFL and how we see it play today. I guess I am sorry I wasn't around in the 50's. Keep liking shit though.
Moss IMO isn't debatable. Sorry I cant have an opinion around here without the cockroach being himself.
Moss was the most dominant WR anyone has saw. He may not have the longevity of Rice but Moss changed games and changed the passing game.
I respect what you are saying though, Jimmy.
If it’s anyone but Page it’s wrong.
1971 MVP. 1969 NFL Champion. 9 Pro Bowls vs 6 for Randy(5 as a Viking) As for the “changed the way the game is played”... Peterson changed the way defenses played too, but people are still bitter on him so he will likely bow out early. Offensive side will come down to Fran vs Randy... because McDaniel’s position isn’t “sexy” enough.
Bud Grant would be the only person that could possibly knock Page out of the top spot of this bracket.
I have to agree, the greatest Viking ever has to be Page, from what he did on the field in purple, to what he did in his post playing days, to what he continues to do, using the fame that his days as a Viking gave him with the connections and resources that came from both of his remarkable professional careers, this has to be Page hands down, no questions asked.
Moss had a huge impact on the game itself, and largely was miscast by the media and wrongfully judged his first time here, but as a Viking he really didnt do much positively to set himself apart and no offense to him as he was traded away and may have become that guy, but being a sports commentator isnt really changing lives either.
Randall McDaniel kind of perfected the undersized athletic G IMO, he was as dominant at that position as we will likely ever see, add to that he was a great representative off the field and continues to give back to the community through various childrens groups makes him a close second IMO.
I have loved all those players, some more than others, but these 2 above really kind of set the bar for me when I think of truly "Great" Vikings.
I think Fran is a turd, and as great of a football player as AD was, I dont think I could ever really think of him as an all time great in terms of a lifetime representing the team. Not trying to diss the rest of the guys on the list, they may be doing great things away from the game that I am unaware of and deserve more recognition.
I remember a game way back when against Chicago...the Bears were inside of the 5 yard line and a TD would probably win the game for them. After stopping a run on first down, the Bears tried to pass into the end zone. Alan Page had back to back sacks to shut them down. The Vikings ended up winning that game and a lot of others due to the Vikings defense and the play of Alan Page. He was unstoppable.
Allow me to expand a bit on that MVP award. The AP has been giving that award out since 1957. In that 60+ years, that award has been given out exactly twice to defenders. Once to Page, once to Lawrence Taylor. When you are a part of a two man roster in the HISTORY of the NFL, you might be pretty special.
In that 71 season, according to team records, Page amassed 26 sacks (that's a lot of Dom)in 14 games. If I ever win the lottery, I'm going to fund Elias to go back to validate those sack numbers.

Aside from the awesome bracket debate, just a reminder were going to be joined by Geoff Nichols tonight! Show starts at 9pm Central and you can interact and ask questions in the mixlr chat during the show.
