Kirk making up his mind?
unless theres tampering going on already. how could he have any decison making done? what if speilman isnt offering the farm?
Hearing more and more about the Broncos and Case Keenum.
**both of these from pretty legit twitter**
That's not what I'm hearing. Team and player sources indicate Broncos remain interested and very much in play for Kirk Cousins. #9sports
I really, really don't want Cousins and especially with the price tag he carries. I don't see how he's worth that much money.

My oh my, the media wont let this one go this year. Ugh.
Well, if Cousins is who they want, they'd better get in the pole position. The new saying is "don't let em leave Eagan"
That's going to take some getting used to.
I honestly don't know if this guy could get us over the top with this new OC, Cook and crew or not??

The Jets plan to be heavy bidders in the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes and they're convinced they can make a better financial offer than any team in the league.
But they're also not sure the size of their bid is going to matter as long as the Minnesota Vikings are involved.
Despite their willingness to throw a truckload of money and a heavily front-loaded contract at Cousins in an attempt to lure the free agent franchise quarterback to New York, the Jets are worried he might already be destined to sign with the Vikings instead. According to a team source, they are aware of the league-wide speculation that Cousins is ticketed for Minnesota and they are taking that threat seriously after some informal, preliminary talks with his camp this week.
Of course, they won't know officially which way Cousins is leaning until they can formally begin talks on March 12. But the source said they are worried enough that they're taking seriously the "Plans B and C and, if possible, D" that Jets coach Todd Bowles spoke about on Wednesday. They believe they can outbid the Vikings and offer a better contract structure, the source said, but they still think Cousins might go to Minnesota for what he'll believe is a better chance to immediately win.
Technically they can't know, because it would be considered tampering if they've had any conversations with Cousins or his agent, Mike McCartney. Realistically, of course, tampering happens all the time around the NFL and it's safe to assume someone in Cousins camp had at least preliminary talks with officials the Vikings, Jets, Denver Broncos and any other interested teams as the scouting combine in Indianapolis.
Meanwhile, the Vikings sure sounded like they knew something, because during Vikings coach Mike Zimmer's combine press conference he wasn't exactly overflowing with compliments about the trio of quarterbacks he's about to let go. He expressed some doubt about whether Bridgewater would ever be able to fully return from the devastating knee injury he suffered two years ago. He questioned Bradford's ability to stay healthy after multiple knee injuries.
And as for Keenum, he made it clear that he's still not sure whether he was a one-year wonder or not.
"The question is no different than is Sam Bradford going to stay healthy? Is Teddy Bridgewater going to be able to to where he was?" Zimmer said. "Is Case Keenum the quarterback he was last year or who he was three years ago?
"All three of our guys have questions. There's no doubt about it, and it's our job to do the very best we possibly can to figure out who is the right guy, the right fit."
Zimmer called it "the $64,000 question with all three of our guys," but really it's a question worth $30 million per year - the price Cousins is expected to command in free agency. The Vikings have around $50 million in cap room and could create more, so they certainly can get in the bidding. What they probably can't do is what the Jets believe they can do: Offer the most guaranteed money and the most money up front.
And if the finances are all that matters, the Jets believe they have a tremendous shot at landing the franchise quarterback they've been searching for since Joe Namath. They're just not sure that money will be all that matters to Cousins. The Vikings clearly can offer Cousins the best chance to be an immediate winner.
And the Vikings are sounding and acting like they know it - and that Cousins knows it - too.
I was really puzzled about Zimmer’s comments. I dont take them at their face value because teams rarely speak that bluntly about their players. The Vikes office is known to play their cards close to the vest. It is out of character to put that negative information out there.
I can only guess that they are trying to minimize interest in their three upcoming FA QBs to keep costs down.
Here is the quote that is the most interesting to me ...
Not only that, they've cleared the
deck at the quarterback position. They had three potential starters on
their roster in last year's starter Case Keenum, and injured former starters Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater. But all three are unrestricted free agents, and the Vikings have made it clear all three are free to test the market.
"That's a dangerous thing to do if you don't have another
quarterback," said one league source, "unless you know you're about to
get one."
Maybe this is bogus but the fact remains we are one week away from the legal tampering period and the Vikings have not made a decision on any of the 3 current in house QBs. Why not? They know all 3 better than anyone and yet, still cannot make up their minds.
Perhaps they will announce an extension for one of the 3 before next Tuesday but until they do then it will be the main topic of discussion for us fans as it should be.
The bottom line is that it is not the fans who want to talk about this incessantly. It is the team that still has not decided on one of the three. Blaming posters for continuing to talk about it is unrealistic.
There's zero doubt they know which way they want to go and what the pecking order is. How it goes down is the X factor.

This piece tactfully leaves out the part where Zimmer talks about how this team was built with defense. And that if "we’re going to do this...we’re going to take away from the rest of the things that have gotten us to this point."
He can't mention him, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the "this" Mike is referring to is paying Cousins. So the premise of the entire article is misleading. Zimmer gave the downside to all four QBs, not just his three.
I think Cousins is the most likely because he's the most talented option without health concerns. I also think Cousins has told his agent that he wants to sign in Minnesota. Why wouldn't he? Beyond that, anything can happen. I've seen too many players too often say "it isn't about the money" only to sign where it is about the money.
The tricky thing for the Vikings is that if they do negotiate with Cousins and lose, it will be very public. How do they then go to plan B, C or D and tell him that "you're our guy" ?

And a disappointed fan-base too...Not saying I'm all in for Cousins (or the majority here are either), but it's not a stretch to say there are probably plenty of Viking fanatics who would be all lathered-up at the prospect, and then having it crash wouldn't be an easy or fun roller coaster ride.
IF they want Cousins and actually land him, the fanbase (in general) is going to be pretty stoked going into next season, coming so close to a SB berth the last one..

my fear is we dont get any of the four. id be happy with any of the four as long as we had back up plans in place for teddy and sam.

we've lost our starting QB early the last 3 years... they damn well better have a back up plan in place no matter who they go with although some choices will allow the team to afford a better back up plan than others.
I like Cousins and I think it would be a great signing
@"PSBLAKE" said: I like Cousins and I think it would be a great signingat what price? its not really if cousins would be a good player for us, its about how much do you spend for what he brings to the table. some of us are saying that the reported 30+ is way way to much for the amount of upside he has over the rest of the options.
