Wow, phenomenal game for the Women's hockey team beating Canada for the gold. I ended up watching it through the end. So fun.

And the Men's Curling team is on an epic run. I am enjoying this stuff more than normal this year.

i will take the womens hockey play over the mens....

and I've been waiting for somebody to bring up the Olympics,  but its time for once every 4 years plea for US hockey to go to the olympic sized ice.  I love the openness of the game so much more than the bull ring that we see for the NHL.  give those skilled players more room to operate and the game really flies and is much more entertaining.  yes they would lose a couple rows of seating,   but IMO the end product would be much better.

(now this is where Olson comes in a bashes the idea... every 4 years...  :p)

i went to bed after the first period,  i just watched that game winning goal... holy shit!  that is a thing of beauty,  best triple deke since Charlies to give the ducks the win over the cake eaters.

Team Canadas goalie has to be getting surgery today as she was completely taken apart on that goal.

That chick lit up that goalie for the shoot out winner, as good as it gets.

I absolutely love the Olympics. I love all the inspiring stories about the athletes. There are some amazing people there. The women's hockey team is badass. It's unbelievable. There are a lot of thrilling moments. Good stuff right there.

I agree, an awesome win by the team!  Lots of individual talent that definitely had each other's back and demonstrated the very best in teamwork!  The name Lamoureux is familiar, did they have brother or two that played for Fighting Sioux?  I'm a gopher fan and have always the great rivalry between the two schools.

Both their dad and their brother played at UND. I think they have 3 or 4 brothers and all are hockey players/coaches. Talented family!

I love watching the Olympics.  It's the only time I ever watch the majority of the sports I tune into during the Games.

What about Gigi Martin from Warroad, MN (pop. 2000)?  Warroad has sent 8 players to the olympics.  Pretty amazing.

Okay, I'm a little late on this...  I've been more interested and watched a lot more of some other olympics over the years, but there were some pretty great moments in this one.  Certainly the Diggins win and the call was epic that was so reminiscent of the PA & Bercich call of Diggs' touchdown.  The similar names, both from (or for) Minnesota, the call.... it didn't even register until later that she was also wearing a #14 bibb!  Weird

and of course, there's also this:
https://sports.yahoo.com/team-usa-medal-count-totals-slideshow-wp-130644115.html
Check out the breakdown and rankings by state, this includes team events like hockey, curling and team figure skating.
There were 31 different states represented at the Olympics in 2018 , producing 23 total medal winners.
Minnesota – 11 total medals, California – 11 total medals, Colorado – 7
total medals, Illinois – 4 total medals, Massachusetts – 4 total
medals, Michigan – 3 total medals, Utah – 3 total medals, Florida – 2
total medals, New York – 2 total medals, North Dakota – 2 total
medals, Idaho – 1 total medal, Indiana – 1 total medal, Nevada – 1 total
medal, North Carolina – 1 total medal, Pennsylvania – 1 total
medal, Vermont – 1 total medal

The MN number boosted with hockey and curling teams of course.  Also not sure if they counted Lyndsay Vonn, but I don't think so since Colorado claims her.
