Big question, help
Brian wants to know if we (his mother and I) want to go to the game in Philly. I want y'al to help me decide.
No, I'm not trying to rub it in. Lol Honestly!!!
Im asking because of the reputation that Philly has (fans).
Has anyone been to Philly for a game and are they as bad as advertised?
Honest question because i don't want to have any trojble when we kick their butts.
Have fun pops, let us know how it went afterward.
I think I read/heard that the Old Vet was the first Pro Stadium that they had to install a jail at the actual stadium to house all the A-hole / Drunk fans due to tons of fights etc. - The home of the original Battery Throwers! Even throw shit at Santa Clause if I remember correctly. Totally D - Bag fans. Our local sports radio morning host who grew up in Philly even says they are the worst fans as far as sportsmanship and behavior at a game - ANY SPORT!
But I that being said - You have to go see your son play in the NFC Championship game. Too rare a happening. Just be safe and don't let their fans get your goat! Don't take their verbal "bait" after Brian sacks Foles and reels one in!
go pops have funn savior the game i for one beleive this is the year 2 games left have fun be safe

I don't care if I'm sitting between Hitler and Goering.Ive only ever gone to Vike's away games for 45 years....cost prohibitive for a teacher to get to home games, but I've been to all the West coast stadiums...SD, LAC, Anaheim, Oak, Phoenix.
LA Raiders were the worst, but there's a few guidelines to going to away games:Stay sober....you WILL be a target for verbal garbage, but you'll at least have YOUR common sense, and no alcoholic inspired bravado.
If you can go with a group of other Vikings fans....strength in numbers. love this!
Used to go with the So. CA Vikings fan club...what a blast.Golden rule....be cool to the opposing fans around you. Cheer but don't trash talk.
(like that Chris Rock video on "how not to get your ass kicked by a cop")Enjoy the game...if something goes right...celebrate....something goes wrong...shake your head.
Know that there WILL be verbal slings and arrows....they don't need to be returned.
ive been in situations where home fans have supported ME (Albeit not in Philly) and singled out the home crowd drunk as the problem to security. You'll have a great time, there will be a few bumps, but MAN WHAT A RIDE!
Sage advice.
So yes Pops, you go and root your boy on. Likely will be with other Viking fans I assume, so there will be strength in numbers. But you gotta see it IMO.
If you see Sean Payton there be sure to give him the old choke sign.
Plus they need someone to teach them the SKOL chant in Philly.
I don't have any advice, but congrats to you and your son.
I said earlier I'd hesitate going to a game in Philly but my son doesn't play for the Vikings. Hell yeah, you should go and have a good time.

Or, maybe a Cleveland Browns and see if they give you any sympathy.I would totally do this with a comical prop that looked like an old movie camera and pretend to take video of the game.
Go & enjoy!!!!
POPS, I live 2 hours from Philly and travel to all of the east coast stadiums when the Vikes play. Philly is by far the worse and their fans seem to relish their reputation. So walking the concourse expect some abuse if wearing purple. Mostly verbal, but I've seen some pushing that may be more prevalent with younger fans giving it back to them so if you just ignore them, keep walking you will be fine. Better off staying in the stadium and let most of the crowd clear out before leaving. Enjoy the game win.

Go and enjoy yourself and have someone in your group record everything so you can show the league just how Philly treats fans of other teams. With the “attendence issue” this year I’d think the NFL would want as many fans as possible coming to the game. I think it speaks volumes that a dad of a player doesn’t want to have to put up with shit from a certain fan base. Don’t get me wrong... rivarly is good and fun... but personal safety and property damage isn’t something ANY fan should have to deal with. Not sure why the league turns a blind eye to the iggles fanbase behavior but maybe you(a parent of a player) could help them notice?
Or just go and enjoy yourself. Either way..... GO.

That's a great point. I know that in the past, they've put police officers in opposing team colors to help with this. I'm not sure if this is a weekly operation or just once in awhile, but it should be.
I would go Pops. I too had an opportunity to go as but will hold off IF they make the SB.
I would NOT wear purple.
SKOL!

Well pops is a retired cops so maybe they can pay him to be there. :)
Heard Brian Billick talking about it on the radio yesterday. He said that if the Vikings win, Vikings fans wearing anything purple better take it off and hide it completely before leaving the stadium. He also said there was a cancelled preseason game for some reason, and he asked them to not announce it for an hour so he could get the team out of town.
Slip into your seat quietly sip your hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps to warm the engine. Just before game time strip off your outer jacket revealing a 96 Robison jersey and loudly proclaim "I'm not sure Nick the Pick Foles will finish this game with my son Out there today."
