OT: ya gotta be a Lynx fan

Yeah, we’ll agree to disagree. Lol. Awful basketball, awful marketing, and mostly awful people. Everything I’ve been force fed about the Lynx seems on par with the rest of the league. But, to each their own.

Not quite right for either of you. The Lynx were actually good the last two seasons and traded way up this past draft to #2 for Olivia Miles (who should have been the #1 pick). They have won 4 NBA titles and look like they'll grab a couple more if this core can stay together the next couple years.

Regardless of your thoughts on the WNBA, the Lynx (and Caitlin Clark on the Fever) are fun to watch. Don't be afraid to tune in and get on the bandwagon now.

The league as a whole is awful. Angel Reese verges on an All Star and often misses wide open layups by two feet and Contested ones by six. The virtue signaling, fouling, and the out and out hate / jealousy of a straight white lady verges on criminal. A couple of women in that league in perfecT conditions can dunk a smaller balL when most high school boys teams have 2-10 boys that can dunk a normal sized ball. I understand to each their own, but the league has turned into a gimmick league centered around reverse race and sexism making it a huge joke built on everything wrong.

Not a huge WNBA fan myself. Glad the Lynx are doing well. They have a really, really big fanbase here.

Great move to go and get Miles...Now with new ownership, we'll see which direction the ladies and mens teams go.

Olivia Miles is a great player as was Maya Moore and the Lynx and Twins are the only teams MN fans can be proud of from a championship standpoint. Ant Man is unreal, but needed a supporting cast better than Randle and Gobert, and I believe Ball is a perfect fit for Anthony. The WNBA has been on life support for years and funded by the NBA. Clark and Reese are big reasons for the turnaround lately, but if the league continues down the recent path, it may put them back in the downward swing...

Miles won't be doing what she is now if/when Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White get drafted.

I don't watch it in fairness, but its seems like its approaching a WWE/Wrestling type game more than basketball, at least from the coverage. If that's why viewership is up, that's not sustainable. And various differing media outlets try to race card it constantly, so that doesn't help either.

I agree! March Madness is my favorite time to watch college basketball. Huge nod to the men's tournament and an occasional view of the women's version.

Appears to be a super star in that league. Very smart to wear goggles as some of WNBA players like to poke at the eyes instead of block shots. Especially if the shooter is white. Sad times.

I absolutely love the Lynx and no matter what anyone says they win. This team is ridiculous how deep they are. Reeves is a phenomenal coach. Olivia Miles is the favorite for rookie of the year. Collier, McBride, Williams and Howard are humming along nicely.

I have been to a couple games since I knew someone that had season tickets. The good teams are good, the bad teams aren’t so great. Still a young league that hasn’t matured yet. Mostly because as a guy who coached girls sports for years it seems to me that girls don’t believe that they can play for as long as they want to play. And that's fucked up. Girls from a young age mostly seem to believe that one day they have to turn into a housewife. Not bullshitting either. It is an indoctrinated fucked up thought process that you can see happening at an early age. I coached girls hockey from U8’s up to high school and my own daughter played HS along with many girls I coached until U15’s and you can see it. You see it from the parents and how they go from being totally invested in their kid doing the thing that they absolutely love to supporting less because… That’s just what’s expected. And so it is no wonder the professional leagues are short on talent. And then you get the people that hate on it for reasons. Like if you don’t like it, just don’t watch it. But in a macro societal level it is just gross the way it gets attacked.

Like men’s sports haven’t gone through all the same stupid drama andore throughout the years. Don’t like it? Don’t watch it. But support your kids even as they mature into adults.

Bottom line: everyone needs a chance. Watch what happens when everyone can… It’s the best.

Watched several Lynx games on tv now that you can watch them on antenna TV. Blast to watch. While I do think it feels like all the controversy that follows the WNBA as a league is manufactured for marketing, I don't think that really colors how I feel watching the Lynx play.

Well you are both right, there are some very entertaining players, but imo overall the league is a joke. Its like its being run by Disney, very hard to take it serious when they can review plays and still get them glaringly wrong.

The fever are a show, the wolves are a show, the rest is just fodder.

Support for trans in women's sports is only 20 to 25% with the vast majority opposed. Pushing pro trans in women's sports is huge up hill battle.

I'm not for trans in women's sports at all. Not sure how that's fair athletically. I think most people with clear heads can understand that. But that is one small issue.....propped up and sensationalized for ulterior motives for either 'side' to then include the BROADER topic of trans in the more general expansive term. That's another topic, another discussion. People can be whatever they want to be, its not my business.
