well if they hadnt drafted Verse, they may not have been able to make this deal happen.... and if they dont hit on talented draft picks on rookie deals to fill out their roster, they cant afford those shiny toys in the window. I think drafting well is still paramount to success in the NFL. There are far to many failed attempts at buying a championship roster to think otherwise IMO.

I'm not saying the draft isn't important. Of course it is, especially for building good, low-cost depth on rosters. But I do think most NFL teams greatly overrate the real-world value of draft picks. It's hard to ignore the fact that the Rams have made the playoffs in 7 of the last 9 years despite the following...
