“I’ll Take Things Kyle Sloter Would Say for $500”
I’m convinced that the Vikings don’t want to play Brosmer because if he looks good then how do they ever bring McCarthy back in?

Kwesi is desperate to make that pick look better than it does right now and keeping Wentz in helps him do that.

I think that's a stretch. He's come in twice now in mop up duty and hasn't stood out. He's still a rookie learning a complex offense.
I like Brosmer's upside, but I find it laughable how many have moved on from JJ McCarthy already. Vikings like both guys, but JJ is more physically talented and has the leadership and intangibles you look for in a franchise guy. Maybe Brosmer has those too, but the team is invested in JJ McCarthy, his teammates love him, and he's going to get a shot to prove everyone right.
Fans are weird.

I was thinking the same throughout the game that was a factor, not that they wouldn't play JJ if he played well, but if he did and JJ came back and looked like he did the first two games, that the fans would then want Brosmer in. It was cruel for them to keep putting Wentz back out there when he was obviously injured and in great pain. It wasn't like the game was close and you felt like you preferred to have a veteran in the close game. Once the game was out of reach there was no reason to keep carting Wentz back on the field.

I think it for sure played a role last night. The team believes McCarthy is better than Brosmer. They’re probably 99% confident in that belief. So putting Brosmer in to pop warner his way to some stats against a defense that’s already packed it in for the night is only going to further stir up the fandom hornets nest. I’d have done the same the KO did, especially once things were out reach.
That said after last night, Wentz can’t start again for us or people will lose their minds. Detroit game should be either McCarthy (hopefully, finally) or Brosmer. KO doesn’t have a choice now.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I know attention spans are short these days, but people already moving on from McCarthy is wild. The bandwagon crowd blows my mind.
Some fans act like young/rookie QBs should come in running a masterclass from day one. JJ’s got it...he just needs time to bake.
The supposition that Brosmer is better is at best unproven. I doubt that KAM/KOC are galaxy-braining things to that extent, in fact I doubt that it's even possible, it's like saying you have a crystal ball and know which qb will look like what. NFL people can't do that or drafting qb's wouldn't be such a total roll of the dice, but people these days love to shit out stupid, conspiratorial takes on everything.

Octopuses from Zeta Reticuli and they are conspiring with our government to serve man... it's a cookbook! :shy:
Kyle Sloter = attention whore...
I don't think it has to do with Kwesi or KOC scheming to keep Brosmer from creating a QB controversy with JJM. Like someone on here said, if our QB of the future ends up being Brosmer over JJM, that's still a win because the goal is to find that franchise QB whether by draft, free agency or trade. I do find fault with KOC for not giving Brosmer real air time last night, though. Wentz was a statute, he was clearly not able or willing to scramble, was hurting, his body language was bad and, oh, he also mostly sucked. You didn't have JJM available to you, so put in Brosmer and see what happens. My guess is KOC worries about "ruining" a rookie QB because he has not created the perfect opportunity for Brosmer to succeed. But the dude is on the roster, he's your backup QB and your starter is hurt and ineffective. You are not being fair to Wentz or the team by plodding him out there to absorb more hits, sack himself and throw errant passes.

Well said PurplePorsche! I wanted to see Brosmer play out of compassion for Wentz. He was obviously hurt, not playing well, and incapable of leading a comeback. In that situation, KOC needed to put in the backup earlier, rather than waiting for the last few minutes of the game.
The team is heavily invested in JJM and believes JJM is the future. Brosmer will never play as long as JJM can go. As a Gopher fan, in the future, I'd love to see Brosmer get a chance to compete with a different team. JMO.

Wentz is injured and I give him kuddos for being tough, as if he had a choice. But he sucks and had the same protetion JJ had early on ,none!
I wanted to see Brosmer put in at half time against the Eagles and hoped he might play last night, until I saw the O-line was as bad as I have ever seen. Then I hoped they wouldn't put him in because as good as he is, he wouldn't stand a chance.
This team was the ideal situation for any QB before the season started. They spent millions of dollars to ease JJ's path to being a franchise QB. And they completely suck! Happy Halloween JJ. You will likely be heading into a house of horrors when you go to Detroit.
As it stands right now, this team is one of the worst in the league. We will see if that changes.
