Surprised we actually gave up on him considering he was a 3rd rounder, but mostly shocked we got anything for a guy who if he wasn't a high draft pick would have been most likely cut.

A lot of cuts and a lot of collecting pennies on the dollar on a lot of high draft picks. Not helping Kwesi's draft average

Addison and Jay Ward the only picks on the roster still from the 2023 class

I think Kwesi has been getting better...learning, adapting.

There are multiple ways of building a roster.  Draft is one.
But so is Free Agency.
And Undrafted Free Agents.

I think he has hit it out of the park on those latter two methods.
He's acting more decisive, I've noticed, picking his markets, getting picks in return. Building capital.

I mean really gang, WTF are we going to do with 11 picks next draft when maybe 5 might make the roster (assuming we end up with a good roster this year)?  I am not positive, but I suspect ALL FIVE 25 picks look like they are going to make the roster (knock on wood).  That's about or above average.

I could care less about Kwesi's draft average.  I look at what he's done the last three years to build the roster.
Pretty damn good.

Only 4 from 25 are making the roster. Bartholomew is ending up either on IR or cut. And with the upcoming bloodbath to whack $60 million off next year's cap, Kwesi's going to need a lot of picks and hit on them to keep the roster stacked.

Has anyone ever gone CB 1st, 2nd and 3rd round?

Blackmon was on a positive trajectory until his knee injury. He obviously hasn't bounced back from the injury yet & may never. I'm also surprised that they traded him so soon, but they need healthy CBs now.

Between Khyree Jackson's tragic death & now Blackmon's knee injury, this team has been snake bit with the CBs that they've drafted.

Blackmon doesn't look like the same guy from his rookie year. Is it the ACL? It was telling when he was out there playing in the 3rd preseason game. Didn't have a roster spot locked up...

With all these trades, I have to imagine we're looking at a CB and/or WR trade since those two spots have the biggest immediate depth need heading into the regular season.

Didn’t GB do that after Moss?

I like the job Kwesi has done overall and we're coming off a 14 win season. As was previously mentioned the Patriots won a lotta games for a lotta years while being bad at drafting. The Rams won a Super Bowl while trading away all their high value picks. Many ways to skin a cat and what matters is on the field. The Vikings are on a good trajectory in my opinion and I'm hoping playoff wins are soon to come.

THAT BEING SAID... Anyone still giving KAM's draft classes the benefit of the doubt in any fashion really needs to stop. He just hasn't earned it. JJ McCarthy can literally erase all of this by being the QB this franchise needs but if not, the perception around KAM is going to tank and he won't have much to fall back on. There's a lot riding on the kid which is going to make it all the more sweet when he delivers.

But until that time I think it's okay to call a spade a spade: KAM has helped build a solid roster, a good culture, and a good coaching staff. He also stinks at drafting.

It's like many of us have said for years about Kwesi, he's great with numbers and acquiring known quantities in free agency or trade, but he struggles to identify college talent and that's been reflective in his drafts. Not a real surprise when talking about someone that has zero scouting background. He'd be a better cap guy than an NFL GM

Definitely fair and a massive room for growth that I'm sure he's well aware of. His bad drafts haven't been nearly enough to warrant a replacement in my opinion and I'm glad he got an extension. But at some point the chickens might come home to roost. I think our new QB is going to help us avoid all that.

A ton for Kwesi hinges on McCarhy, Dallas Turner and Donovan Jackson...and to some extent those chickens have come home to roost in the form of a lack of quality/depth at corner, receiver, and running back. He has certainly done some good things managing the cap and signing free agents, but I'll wait until we win a playoff game before I weigh in on if I'm glad he got an extension or not. Much left to be determined

If he hits on McCarthy who cares,  he also has flyer in Brosmer similar to a Brady or Purdy found in the 7th round or UDFA that has flashed bit in pre season.  I am not saying he is anywhere near their atmosphere but he has a very good trajectory.
