Texans give Danielle a 1 year deal extension
The #Texans and Danielle Hunter have agreed to a one-year, $35.6 million contract extension that makes him the NFL’s second-highest paid defensive end, per sources.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
Good for him. But I'm glad we're not paying him. When you are so lopsided in your contracts where just a few players are getting an inordinate amount of your total available salary cap, it leaves you with gaping holes. Hence the value in a QB on a rookie contract for 4-5 years. Rather than tying up 30-59+ million in one player (Jaguars? Bengals?), you have the ability to spread it around.
Of course we all know this. Every one of us could be an NFL GM playing with house money.
Not bad for a guy that got a total of 4.5 sacks and 21 tackles in his three year college career.
Give Spielman credit, he got this one right. Selected 88th in the 2015 draft.

And better save some of that back slapping for the DL coaches too!
Glad for Danielle, glad he gets to close out his career playing back at home.

He broke the bank. Glad it wasn’t with us.

He started slow last year but then built up a very nice season. It will be interesting to see what Houston does this year, I think they take a step back.
Bradbury and Ingram are proficient and capable of moving in that direction.

It’s malpractice to put your franchise QB in this situation. Elliot Wolf should be ashamed.

Posted too early, misremembered where Bradbury went.
If Hunter keeps going he may wind up in Canton some day. Good for him, great DE.

I think it depends a lot of how long he can play and how many total sacks he can rack up. Right around 125 sacks seems to be where your odds of HOF status start to solidify. I think we’ve had a string of guys like Kevin Williams, Harrison Smith, Hunter that all will probably end up with HOF caliber careers, but kind of just did their jobs quietly and didn’t suck up a lot of the public attention, so in my mind he probably needs 130 sacks (3 more years of 10ish sacks).
