Depth Chart
How are we liking the looks of things after a big free agency period?
QB: McCarthy
RB: Jones
TE: Hockenson
WR: Jefferson, Addison, Nailor
LT: Darrisaw
LG: Brandel
C: Kelly
RG: Fries
RT: ONeill
OLB: Greenard
DE: Allen
NT: Phillips
DE: Hargrave
OLB: Van Ginkel
MLB: Cashman
MLB: Pace
CB: Blackmon, Murphy
S: Jackson, Mattelus (Harrison Smith?)
Looking at needs filled and how the draft stacks up:
- Corner is still a need
- We could take a guard if we wanted to upgrade Brandel
- Running back is a very strong possibility. There are going to be some very good players at those positions on the board at #24.
I would love to see us get a franchise RB in this draft who has home run speed. It was such a huge dimension to the offense when we had AD and Cook and had that threat to take it to the house on any play, it made it tough on defenses to game plan. The last few years we have not been much of a threat to break anything, defenses could be more focused on the pass.
We still have a ton of cap space... I think we'll add at least one more CB on a 1-yr deal and add depth at some other spots. I fully expect us to trade back from 24 at this point unless a must have player is there.
A back up to JJM is the most critical need for me & that's going to be challenging position to negotiate. We're currently projected to earn a 3rd round comp pick in 2026 for losing SD. Any QB that we sign as a UFA ($3M AAV) will negate that. I'm hoping that Cam Robinson signs somewhere for a qualifying offer that will protect that 3rd round pick.
I would also like to see us add a better PR than Powell.

His tape as the season went on probably tanked any strong offers.
Never underestimate a GM’s ability to grossly overspend at a premium position.

Agree. You hate to have to still sign a QB after all that, but it is absolutely critical. There's not much out there, but the good thing is that they all should be beating down our door to work with the QB Sensei.
This Vikings defense is absolutely loaded — and the offseason is far from over.

That defensive front should be nasty. Dallas Turner is going to get after it this season and imagine adding a Kenneth Grant, Nolen or Harmon to that front and just coming at opposing offenses in waves like the Eagles have been able to do. Makes me, uh...rigid.

A week or so I read Nolen was dropping. Fine by me. Grant would be a legit 0 or shade. Or maybe a combo of Alexander early and Pegues/West later. Make it obscene.
There’s two things that can be counted on: someone going earlier than expected and someone going later than expected. Hopefully we are beneficiaries of the later.
