Kiper released his first mock yesterday and has the Vikings taking CB Benjamin Morrison. Interestingly, in his position rankings, he has Shavon Revel ranked ahead of both Morrison and Barron. Revel tore his ACL in September. He should be fine by training camp, but he's probably going to miss the combine, pro days and OTAs. Revel is intriguing, but do the Vikings want two corners returning from ACLs?

24. Minnesota Vikings
Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame

Minnesota has big-time cornerback questions. All three starters -- Stephon Gilmore, Shaquill Griffin and slot guy Byron Murphy Jr . -- are free agents, along with backup Fabian Moreau . So, even though the Vikings led the NFL in interceptions by quite a bit (24, five more than second best), they might have to restock their CB room in the draft. Morrison missed all but six games in 2024 with a hip injury, but he's a top-tier cover man. He has sound technique, and he has the ball skills to keep Minnesota's INT total high. Morrison had nine picks and 21 pass breakups over his career.

I think the big question is do we have a deal already in place with either Samuel or Jack Jones that is waiting to be announced until it doesn't effect the comp pick formula for next year? It's certainly been rumored, and if that's the case than I don't see us going cornerback early and I think that would be my preference and to invest our early picks towards other areas of need.

I'd like a shut-down CB1 who can relegate Murphy to CB2. But I don't think it's a position we give a lot of attention to after the first pick.

Agree strongly with both thoughts. It may end up being the spot that actually makes the most impact from the draft class, which isn't sexy but I would totally get it.

If we went CB, I have a draft crush on Jadhae Barron. I like how he plays.

I believe that. He seems well suited not just for our needs, but for a Brian Flores defense. Smart, high character, versatile, can play up or back and even has the cover skills to play corner if you need him to.

I would feel much (much) better with Starks vs Emmanwori in a Flo D.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Morrison was on NFL radio today. He had surgery on BOTH HIPS.

Workout is Monday.

Between the Asante Samuel rumors, trade options like Ramsey, Sauce and Jaire Alexander...not to mention fall back options like Griffin, the Vikings not taking a corner at all in the draft wouldn't be too surprising.

Agreed. Too many other options available to round out our position group. I think the only way we go corner is if a complete unexpected happens like Will Johnson falling into our laps, which I think could be possible now. Not likely, but possible

Basically play speed vs timed speed. Not made up but quantified.

It's definitely a thing. I seen't it. And anyway, it's not like we're talking about a slow guy here. Starks ran 4.50. That's fast for a safety. Safeties who run under 4.5 are rare. Kyle Hamilton ran a 4.58. Brian Branch ran a 4.58. I don't know if Starks can play in the NFL or not, but he timed faster than both of those guys. His 3-cone and shuttle times drag his RAS down, but his 40 and 10 are very good.  Add in the instincts, versatility and play speed and he promises to be a pretty good player.

Heard today that Travis Hunter has played 2600 snaps over the last two seasons. That’s four years worth in two seasons, that’s a lot of wear & tear!

That's the thing though, there are still options in free agency that would round out the unit. We know the Asanta Samuel rumor and that we've been highly interested in Jack Jones in the past. There's been interest in bringing Griffin back. If there is no interest in any of these options than go ahead and take a corner, but I'd certainly prefer to address the position in free agency and draft other positions
