2025 NFL Free Agency and Draft: RB
I don't see the Vikings adding a running back in free agency. There's just not much out there. Even if we bring back one or both of Jones and Akers, I think the Vikings will take a RB with one of their first two picks. From this list, I love Jeanty and Henderson. Unimpressed by Skattebo and Neal. With the depth of this class, there's probably going to be good backs still on the board after the draft. One sleeper I like right now is Montrell Johnson, Jr out of Florida.
This year’s RB draft class is absolutely LOADED.

Some NFL scouts reportedly believe there could be “easily over 10” selected between rounds one and two.

• Omarion Hampton (UNC)
• Kaleb Johnson (Iowa)

Love is like a supercharged LeSean McCoy. Just a beast. He busted off that 98 yard TD run in the playoff game against Indiana on a hurt knee. Played the entire playoff with that knee in a brace. He'll be a Heisman candidate this year.
I was surprised both Penn State guys returned to school, but probably a good move with the draft talent in this RB crop. I'm sure they were well compensated to return
I know Kwesi was in Happy Valley at one point this year. Singleton catches like a WR at 6-1 and 227 ish.

On 40 and Free Agents MJD brought up a good point. Chicago’s RB coach is Eric Bieniemy. Mr No Block No Rock. His mock has the Bears going Henderson. Typically I discount MJB like a drunken uncle but man the dots make sense this time. Especially if Jeanty goes 6.

I think they grab a RB too - just not with their #1...
I think there will be too much D talent still on the board at that time to drool over. They can loop around for the RB in Rd2 and get a Judkins level guy
He's damn near a clone of Montgomery, would make sense.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Agree. Bears pick at 10. In the deepest RB class in memory, hard to see them burning a top 10 pick on a player whose consensus ranking is 42. Bears have two picks in the early 2nd round. That's where they'll get their back.

I take it all back if Jeanty makes it past The Raiders...

Well...yeah. Jeanty changes the landscape for every team I think.

Jamir Gibbs was ranked about that same area and nobody is complaining about the Lions using the 12th pick on him now. I view Henderson kind of that same way and why if the Vikings took him at #24, you'd get no complaints from me. You bring in someone that's an explosive playmaker and fits your offense perfectly, take him. 10 to 12 touches a game in rotation with Jones/Mason and also gives you vale as a kick returner under the new rules...sign me up

That was a different draft. Look, I love Henderson, but I think 10's a reach when you have 3 picks in the top 40. If I were them I'd package a couple of picks and move up for Jeanty. If I couldn't swing that, I'd trade back from 10 and take Henderson in the late teens. I have zero problem taking Henderson at 24.

Most likely. If it’s me I run with Swift and Roschon Johnson and bolster the LT slot or Edge spot. But, I think I love Roschon more than his own mom.

I think they're in a similar situation as the Vikings honestly. Mason is our Roschon and Jones is our Swift. RB is not an urgent need for either team, but I think both Ben Johnson and Kevin O'Connell would LOVE to add a premier back, because there isn't one on either team.

The worst thing Detroit could do is to continue splitting carries between Gibbs and Montgomery. Should be 70/30. Gibbs is electric.

I agree and this is a great example as to why most draft folks in the media are just a bunch of sheep without diving into things a little more.
