Have to give a lot of credit to this defense. Some (ahemmm. .) were calling this a major upgrade with the hire of Flores in the offseason. Too much talent wasted in 2022 with Donatell.
Keep him around for 2024 and spend your FA money on extending Hunter and adding an interior pressure DT. All that is missing from this defense being top 5 is a guy who presses the pocket up into the arms of our edges. A guy who can draw double teams and free up more blitzes. The maturation of Blackmon, Metellus, Pace, Carter Jr, with another couple of pieces in the trenches would make this a top 5 defense.

The defense is definitely improved, Pace, Metellus and Bynum along with Hunter have really stepped up. Flores actually contributed to the 2 losses by playing soft on the last drives and allowing the winning scores. All 3 offenses were pretty bad, which was a big factor. I am not a Flores fan, but I do think we have some promising talent on defense to build on.
