Actually championship defenses make stops when the game is on the line and have a DC who plays to win

Should we just shit this thread down now to save the shit show?

I dont think Flores was happy with his directive that last drive.  I'm guessing conservative KOC was involved in that based on Flores track record of wanting to get after it.

Not sure KOC gave any input on scheme for that last defensive series, but they did crap the bed when it mattered most. KOC's offensive play calling and Dobb's execution in scoring only 2 times when the Bears desperately tried to give us that game is much more frustrating.

Yeah the defense outplayed the offense, I am not going to bag on the defense much. The offense was absolutely atrocious tonight.

It definitely is, despite some fans angst over the last drive for Chicago.

Yeah, best defense we've seen since 2017. It really is remarkable what Flores has done. I mean WAY above even the most optimistic expectations. Hope we can find a way to keep him.

Did Donatell take over on the last drive of the last two games? I think Flores is great, but you have to ride home in the same car that took you to the party, and that's pressure.

I wish I had the stats in front of me, but it seems to me the rush 3 and drop 8 has been more effective than the full pressures.

What's frustrating is what happened last night on Chicago's last drive. For me it wasn't that we didn't bring the heat. It was that they dropped 8 (iow, 8 guys covering 3 or 4 receivers) and Wilson was still able to find an open receiver. That shouldn't happen.

This has been a very solid defense, but I wouldn’t call it
championship caliber.  If our offense was
an elite offense, then sure, this defense is more than good enough.  I think the defense looks pretty elite when
it comes to playing the young inexperienced QBs, but to be championship
caliber, you’re talking about comparing it against playoff caliber QBs and
offenses, and I think against those types of teams it’s going to look much more
borderline.  Regardless, the point stands
that our offense needs to step it up if we’re going to be making any noise in
the playoffs, but it’s probably better to have tempered expectations given our
QB situation.  It sucks when your
starting QB goes down, but shit gets much harder when it happens.

No doubt Flores is getting more than I would have thought looking at the individual parts...

Hope we can keep him another season and maybe add a piece or 2 to the DL.

I'd really like to keep Hunter too, he is making a huge difference.

I think we might be underrating the parts. Yes, I give most of the credit to Flores obviously, but Hunter is playing better than any edge in the NFL right now. Pace has been terrific for a rookie. Harry, Metellus and Bynum should rank near the top of NFL safety groups, and finally the corners. Blackmon looks like a steal. When healthy Evans has been solid. He ranks higher than Patrick Peterson. Oddly, our prize free agent Murphy hasn't been as good as the two youngsters. We need a DT, but this group has a future.

It was the same thing with the Broncos, that is not what great defenses do.  And let's not forget those were both very below average offenses.

It's a great combination of coaching and personnel. The players love playing for Flores and he is great at coaching them

I agree, Ryan. Flores is a QB killer and should never be a head coach again....

https://news.yahoo.com/former-dolphin-ryan-fitzpatrick-tua-174918502.html
During Prime Video’s “Thursday Night Football” pregame show, former Dolphin Ryan Fitzpatrick made scathing remarks about former Miami coach Brian Flores and his relationship with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Fitzpatrick, who serves as an analyst for Prime Video’s pregame, halftime and postgame shows, was talking about the regression of New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones and said the 2021 first-round pick has been “broken.”
He then compared Jones’ early career situation to that of Tagovailoa, saying that the 2020 first-round pick was “broken from Brian Flores, the way that he treated him. The way that he coached him. And what happens? Mike McDaniel comes in, he restores his confidence, he gets it back and now he’s an MVP candidate.”

Fitzpatrick was teammates with Tagovailoa during his rookie season. Flores was fired after the 2021 season, just three years after behind hired to lead the Dolphins.
While Tagovailoa hasn’t said much about Flores since his firing, he has spoken about how the arrival of McDaniel and his staff helped instill confidence in himself and allowed him to be himself as he leads the team.
Tagovailoa on Thursday choked up when speaking about right tackle Austin Jackson’s contract extension and said that there were things that were said about Jackson by the previous coaching staff “that you know aren’t true but they get planted in your head.”
“And then you have someone like Mike and his coaching staff come in and basically build you back up,” Tagovailoa said. “And it’s not just Austin. It’s really everyone that’s been here for some time and kind of give you that renewed confidence in yourself to just go out there and play the way you’ve played.”
