Well, a vikings team without Cousins isn’t trading for someone. I don’t mind winning, but without Cousins we don’t have a chance.

Badly missed block by Darrisaw leading to the turnover...

It’s ridiculous how bad theyve played the few series.

I was just really against trading next years picks for a tear we we’re not winning it all.

Hopefully an ankle and not an Achilles.  I was starting to like what I was seeing of the team.

I'm afraid it's not an ankle,  I didn't see a roll,   just a plant and a pop,  and as quick as he was ruled out makes me think this is not a simple week of rest thing.

KOC says Achilles. Confirmation tomorrow.

The real shitty thinig is, this tream is good enough to win 2-3 more games this year. Just enough to put us out of position to draft a QB.

I doubt Michael Penix will be close enough but if we follow the example set by the Lions and trade up from 20 to 10 for a 3rd rounder we may be able to get him.

There will somebody in that group that falls to our reach.  Penix, McCarthy, Williams, Nix, Mayes  I have to think a couple more will emerge with at least one team going off script and taking somebody that we didnt think would go as early.   I have mostly watched Penix and really like what I see,  would like to see him use his legs a bit more,  but the kid is usually cool as they come and can sling the ball pretty well.

Guaranteed. Minnesota will have a choice of a QB with nice upside.....who that might be is the question. Its a deep QB class. And NFL GMs tend to not align with the media draft 'experts' when it come to whom and where for QBs.

Very rarely does the top pick end up being the best of the bunch anyway.  Its a crap shoot anyway.  Just take one of em and see what happens. I am excited to see what KOC can do with a talented rookie.  If he can get this much out of a QB who just arrived, imagine what he could do with someone who gets a whole offseason.

This is my guy...

Daniels now leads the nation in total offense (408.2 yards per game), TDs passing (30) and yards rushing by a QB (914). He's No. 2 nationally in TDs responsible for (38) and yards passing per game (316.4).4 days ago

which is exactly why IMO nothing was gleaned from last nights performance by Dobbs to say one way or the other that he shouldnt be retained.  It would be nice to have Cousins as the bridge QB,  but it would be better to have an extra 15 to 20 million in the cap fund to help improve the team around whoever is the QB,  bridge or otherwise.  At some point I would have thought a smart guy like Cousins would have realized this and did the Brady thing,  but apparently not so IMO its time to roll with the future.

I know you keep saying this, but I do think there's something to be gleaned: he's exactly who he's been at other places. Again, he's still learning an offense and has been here a very short period, but his default isn't going to change much. Any interest in retaining Dobbs will be because they can't get Cousins off a 3 year deal and he'll be a cheap bridge QB. Not saying that isn't the way to possibly go. But Dobbs as a longer term starter in Minnesota? I think that's the least plausible scenario.

That could be very well how it ends up.

I think Cousins is going to have make any potential deal at least a little cap friendly to be fully considered. If he does, he's probably the leader in the clubhouse IMO. I just feel KOC thinks Kirko has a mastery of his offense now.

oh hell no to the long term starter notion,  he is a bridge QB at most for us.  I am just saying that I will gladly take him at 20ish over Kirk at 35-40 for 2 years. Give Dobbs a full offseason of reps with the ones and I dont think you see him throwing behind receivers,  I would also hope he isnt as tentative to get through his throw,  those balls sailing high were an indicator of him throwing off his back foot,  or at least not getting his weight transferred forward. I dont see Kirk coming back after a year layoff and being the guy we saw right before his injury,  I would be expecting him to play more like the guy we saw at times last year.  Tentative, slower reacting, mechanics off,  still a hell of an arm,  but just not worth the kind of money he will likely be wanting or the terms he would be expecting.
