I read that yesterday, good for Booth. Still need to see a lot more game video before he's crowned a player than can start and be relied on, but good news nonetheless.

I'd like to see Cine contribute this year too.

Me too, but given his injuries and the fact that there are at least three (maybe four) healthy safeties on the roster who are better, it's not very likely. '24 will be Cine's make or break year.

Booth becoming a contributor would be found gold at this point. I know it's only year 2 for him but I've pretty much written him off as a bust at this point. But man, it'd be awesome if he can become a player for us. Definitely had some good tape in college. Rooting for him.

If you go back & look at the mocks prior to that draft both Cine & Booth are universally in the first round. So, what happened? Why haven't they developed as expected? In Cine's case was it solely due to the injury? Booth projected as a zone CB. Is he a bad fit for the Flores defense?

That's a good question. NFL.com said Booth projected more as a zone corner, even a Tampa 2 corner, which is basically a corner who CAN'T play man. But Draft Network thought he was actually better in man. So who really knows?

He was hurt a lot in college and so didn't come into the NFL with a ton of experience. He was going to need time, which he didn't get due to another injury his rookie season. Is he ready to contribute now? We'll see. Evans and Blackmon have been pretty good, but I think everyone would agree that Byron Murphy has been a disappointment.

Cine missed an entire year of development, but even when he was healthy in camp this year, he was jeckyl and hyde. Good in pursuit, but a terrible tackler, and prone to mental mistakes. It's too early to say for sure on both, but it doesn't look especially good for either, especially Cine.

He's definitely got some trade value. Is Flores just boosting his value before the trade deadline?

Buffalo drafted Kaair Elam in the 1st round of that 2022 draft. Elam profiled as a press man CB. Buffalo runs a zone scheme. Elam was their 4th CB. He didn't play any snaps until Tredavious White was lost for the season. He was benched in Buffalo's loss to Jacksonville.
Our own Andrew Booth profiled as a zone CB. He seems to be misfit in Flores defense.
So, there you have it. Elam for Booth straight up. This trade also fits into Kwesi's modus operandi of trying to reclaim former high draft picks.
Kwesi, make it happen! BOOM!

Not a terrible idea, if'n the fits are right. I'm just not convinced on which scheme Booth fits better in. For example...

Reading this profile shows just how much of crapshoot the draft really is.

Playing corner in the NFL is no cake walk. There’s a huge learning curve coming from most college programs. The main thing I like to see year two is improvement and so far several guys are showing it. Blackmon seeing serious playing time out of the gate is a really great sign and it seems like Evans show up more and more. We have some guys, it just takes time.

On Cine, he had a major injury. It takes time coming back from something like that both mentally and physically. I was not happy about the Cine pick because I didn’t see a need there at all. I did see a severe need at Defensive line and watched Kwesi just pass by guys who can play. I don’t get that pick at all for this team. With that said, he has some things going for him if he can make a full recovery (more than just physical) and I think it’s really premature to give up on him.
Our defense is getting better and we are competitive even against top teams. For whatever reason, they are finding ingenious ways to screw themselves over this year. The coach needs to get that fixed pronto.
