This really would be the most Vikings thing ever

Addison is a rookie
Mattison has looked pedestrian
KJ/TJ - both are just not on their "A games" this yearIf I recall right, the Chiefs made a big move up to top 10/12 to get Mahomes? So nice things can happen to those with the balls to make a move.
I can almost guarantee the Wilfs will look at it as if we can get an immediate impact player and improve on a deficiency, re-sign Kirk, it puts us right into the contender conversation. Kwesi's seat should be getting warm by that point and he will also be needing immediate impact on the field. The clear defenciencies are along both lines. I could easily see us winning 7 or 8 games, bringing Cousins back on a short extension, and once again taking a swing on a mid round quarterback. I would bet money that's the most likely scenario at this point
I'm not sure as fans we can continue to put the OL in the same conversation as the DL?Look at the thread @StickyBun started on OL pff scores. Those guys are really improving - most of them anyhow.
The defensive line is worse, but Cleveland is a free agent this offseason and we can opt out of the final two years on Bradbury's deal with zero dead cap hits. That's something they will likely consider at the end of the season.

The more important takeaway with Mahomes is that you don’t
need a top draft pick to get a top QB.
Having the balls to move up a lot only works if you can pick the right
guy and all the other teams ahead of you don’t recognize the greatness that you
see. Having the balls to spend a lot of
draft capital to pick the wrong guy is a strategy that will cement you as a
perennial loser. And I think that if
there’s anything to learn from the draft it’s that teams aren’t that great at
being able to tell the difference between surefire studs and guys that bust.

We are fucked.

Otherwise he doesn't have another quarterback on his list. Heavy on offensive and defensive lineman (strong group), and receivers, which has been the trend.Just my hunch at this point, but Ive always said we aren't a bad enough team to be drafting top 10. We likely extend Cousins and probably draft a defensive lineman with that becoming a heavy favorite if we do in fact trade Hunter in the coming weeks. Same old Vikings...wash, rinse, repeat...
I think my head would explode, I would definitely be needing Maroons tv repair guys number.
Brace yourself because we are probably going on a run after this 49ers game. We'll end up with 7 or 8 wins when all is said and done and the front office will have reached their competitive mandate. If that happens we could still pick McCarthy or Penix, that is if Kiper is correct.

there will be some that drop, there will be some that decide they will stay in college one more year, there will be some that arent worth taking despite what the talking heads preach, there for sure will be a name or two that jump up, and some that will fall down, and then there are always injuries that can play into the equation. I think this could be the year of the QB, like we havent seen in a long time, I can usually pick apart the top 5 pretty easily, but this batch of kids to me seem to be the best crop we have seen in quite a while as far as being PRO type candidates.
Seeing some mocks that insinuate there are only 2 QBs worth first round grades: Caleb Williams and Drake Maye. Could be true in theory, good luck having some GMs keep it in their pants the whole first round and not pull the trigger on another QB. Its the NFL and you have people that think they know things other teams don't.

I would be extremely happy if it went down like that. There would be at least 2 more QB's worth taking later in the first round. I only wish our GM had a brain at that point of the draft.

Says who? You know what I mean? Hell, Drake Maye could be a bust. 'Worth taking' is in the eye of the beholder. And we've already seen what happens when teams give up the farm to move up for guys.I'll be shocked if the Vikings don't take a QB in the first 2 rounds. Who and where will be the interesting part.

Mark my words, Penix and McCarthy will be very good NFL QB's.

JJ McCarthy is my guy....been hyping him for months now. Would love to see him in purple. But there's still no way to know. Just opinions. But the thought of JJ throwing TDs to JJ just seems like a marketing dream :p
For those interested, if the draft were held today the Vikings would be picking 7th overall
Spielman on Michael Penix
LOL,
Its now being reported that Caleb Williams wants partial ownership of whatever team selects him in the draft, how does that work if they end up cutting or trading him, I am sure there is some sort of clause about not being able to own part of the competition, pretty sure Vegas wouldnt like that. and also how do you factor that ownership into the salary cap? seems pretty clueless IMO.

It'll never happen. Ever. So either he and his team are trying to control a bit where they go or its a completely made up bullshit story. One or the other.
I'll tell you a kid who is being criminally underrated right now in these early draft projections is Dillon Gabriel. I've seen him play quite a bit but his game against Texas was one of the best performances Ive seen from a college quarterback. Right up there with Stroud against Georgia. His pocket awareness, escapability, and playmaking on the run is special. Throws from the pocket with plenty of juice on his throws. Lefty drops dimes on alot of his deep throws. Only downside is size, at a listed 5'11"/205 pounds. Outside of Caleb Williams though, I don't know that there is a better playmaker at the position and he's vaulted himself right into the Heisman mix.
I watched Penix for the first time last Saturday, but Bo Nix for the second time. Penix outshone Nix last weekend, but Nix SOOOO outclassed Shadeur a few weeks ago when Oregon smacked the crap out of Colorado. It's not really fair to judge a body of work from one game (good or bad), but honestly, I would add Bo Nix to the mix (see what I did?). Not impressed with Drake Maye, and not really sold on Shadeur either...he needs to marinate another season, I don't care where his Dad wants him to go. Really really really not impressed with Mel Kiper. He still has a job and he's never, ever right. I'm gonna start calling him "The Weatherman with Bad Hair."
Caleb Williams and Drake Maye took a baby step back yesterday. I continue to tout Shadeur Sanders (didn't play this weekend) as a bonafide NFL QB prospect, I really like his instincts and his play. I'm just not sure he's going to come out next Spring. McCarthy continues to look incredible against subpar competition. Penix looked horrible.
So yesterday in the Tenn-Alabama game, Squirrel White was up against Kool-Aid McKinstry. lol, sigh. You can't make it up.

You know who was worse? Mike Mayock. And a bunch of idiots who weren't paying attention decided he should be a GM.
