Draft Day Rumor Thread - Catch All
May as well put them in one thread today, make it easy to view:
Colts are seemingly settled on QB Will Levis. Got the 'blessing' from the Mannings.
I hear the Vikings will either take a QB, DT, OLB, ILB, CB, S, WR or RB. Big if true.
Actually a friend just texted me that PA says the Vikings might take Gibbs if stuck at 23. Now that would be a surprise. A RB with our only pick in the top 86? Better run, Mouschi.
Supposedly, Vikings have inquired on spots 5-10 in round 1 to trade up for a QB. If a QB falls a bit, they'll be prepared to quickly pull the trigger if comp can be reached.
Arizona is fielding multiple calls at the Texans arent expected to select CJ Stroud.

Actually, Gibbs is in my top 4 @23. Wouldn't be upset...other than disappointed that other positional needs are greater.
Gibbs would be a great weapon.
1) Bresee
2) Porter, Jr
3) Flowers
4) Gibbs
The #Panthers will finally reveal their new QB tonight, and sources say their thinking never wavered once they moved to No. 1. Scouts had conviction early in the process. Coaches had no doubt after film study.

From today's Walter Football;
One player who has gone under-hyped during the 2023 NFL Draft process is Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Many teams use a color-based grade scale, with Blue signifying an elite starter, Red/Warm marking a good starter, Red indicating a solid starter, and below that are backup quality players. The 2023 NFL Draft is not especially strong, and Gibbs is one of the few players who received a blue grade. Multiple team sources feel Gibbs could be an Alvin Kamara- or Jamaal Charles-type running back in the NFL. The other consensus blue players in the 2023 NFL Draft are Bijan Robinson, Will Anderson, Tyree Wilson and Jalen Carter. Some teams gave blue grades to Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud and Devon Witherspoon. Some teams, meanwhile, did not have Anderson and Wilson with blue grades and had them as red/warm.
With Gibbs being one of the only consensus blue prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft, in all likelihood he is going to go much higher than expected tonight. Team sources told WalterFootball.com that they think Gibbs could go as a top-20 selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Along with being an ultra-fast running back, Gibbs is a phenomenal receiving weapon who can be used out of the slot like Kamara. Gibbs also can serve as a kick returner. He is tough, strong, fast, and has great character on and off the field. There are a lot of teams that are interested in Gibbs. While he might be a surprise top-20 pick to the media and fans, it won't be a surprise to teams if Gibbs goes that high.

Love Gibbs! But again, with only five picks, all our needs on defense, the need at WR, and the need for a QBOTF, taking a RB with our only pick in the top 86, seems...negligent. Exciting pick, but man, somebody bring me some defense.

Mackey and Judd said on their show this week that the Vikings already have a deal in place for Cook post June 1st. We didn't need Randy Moss when we drafted him, but look how that turned out. I would not be opposed to this at all because of the dimension he would add in the Passing game.
Regardless of what happens in the draft, you have no control over it, we have no idea if these guys will pan out or not, so you know, enjoy it. pic.twitter.com/HM6Yhn4Zs5

Shrager’s mock has us taking Bijan at 23 and trading back into the first for Hooker at 28 fwiw.
I’ve posted here a few times saying RB to the Vikings might actually be the pick. Mattison is not a game changer at the position and he is not making much money. I absolutely think RB is in play just as much as WR, depending on who is available.
The more smoke that seems to clear, the more it seems like a lot of QBs are gonna get picked very early. Unfortunately for the Vikings there just aren’t thos Sauce Gardner, Khalil Mack, Chase Young type of prospects that teams who don’t want/need QBs will think they absolutely have to take. Jalen Carter is one but after him who’s left? Anderson has questions and most teams aren’t going to forego a big haul via trade for the chance to draft OL. In a way this helps us as it makes more teams willing to move back, the problem is getting them to move back all the way to 23.
Seems crazy but I would not be shocked to see QBs go 1-2-3-4 tonight. That’s worst case scenario if the Vikings are serious about getting one, but lots of QBs going early is looking more and more likely by the hour.
If things played out like Shrager’s mock, our defense would continue to STINK but the offense would be set for a long time.

I read that too. But what does that mean? Can they do the trade in the draft and somehow designate it post June 1?

Can they do the trade in the draft and somehow designate it post June 1?Specifics I'm not sure, but judging by that and Dalvin removing us from his IG posts, etc, it means he's gone. I don't really like the decision but I can make peace with it and wish him well. I'm just not sold at all on Mattison or the gaggle of unknowns behind him as starting RBs, let alone bellcows. Hopefully whoever the heck we have back there come the season opener, our run game can have more success than last year. I find it hard to believe we can do that without Cook but who knows? Maybe. This is also why I think drafting an RB is very much in play for MIN.
More of the same, but this one is from Rapaport...um reportedly.

I'm not so sure about the running game taking a hit with Mattison. In year's past I would have agreed with you, but last year it seemed like when Mattison came in for Cook, he had more explosiveness. Granted he was much fresher when he spelled Cook, but I had never seen Mattison come in and look better than Cook until last year. Maybe it's just my aging eyes deceiving me?

Now that would get interesting. I could get behind a Bijan/Hooker draft. I'd assume we're giving up next year's #1 for Hooker. Not sure if that'd require our 3rd this season as well.

Not saying this is who I want but have a strong feeling this is who they take and they are gonna move up quite a bit more than people are thinking to do so.

The ultimate boom or bust. But man what an upside for a guy who can sit behind Cousins for a year (or more). If that's who KOC wants and that's who they believe in? Go for it. Still a lot of free agents out there who play defense, and some money coming in from Cook and Z. Even more money in extensions for TJH, O'Neill and Hunter.
