Eagles Kick DGB To The Curb
I really don't know much about DGB. Obviously has the physical skills so it is the mental part of the game like not learning routes etc (ala Patterson) or is it off the field, work ethic etc...
Just curious if anyone has a take.
The pivotal thing, to me, was him leaving Oklahoma after never playing a down despite telling the coaches he was going to stay. Not only was he deceiving the OU coaches, he made a stupid selfish decision about his career: he absolutely needed to show that he was dedicated to football and learning his craft, but he chased the fast payday.
He made over $3M for doing little more than being hyped as "the next Randy Moss". That was always ridiculous! DGB was 6'5" and ran a 4.49 40; Randy was 6'4" and had 4.25 speed! Beckham scored 12 TDs in his best college season, Moss scored 28. Besides, Moss was a quantum leap ahead of the WRs playing when he came out, while there have been a lot of guys with DGB's level of ability. If there ever is a "next Randy Moss" in terms of his impact on the game, he would have to be about 6'8" and run a 4.0 40..
I think it's a maturity/dedication issue...he could dominate on physical ability alone...Maybe this serves as a wake up call...
His wake up call should have been after he was traded by the team that drafted him after just one year. I don't think we need his maturity issues on the team for what little chance I see of him contributing.
Pass.
Does he fit the classic "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" mold? ;)
You can't teach 6'5" and 4.5 speed. Maybe Zimmer might be the coach to light a fire under his ass...

I would be more concerned about his ability to comprehend a playbook before correcting any motivation issues.

I'm not sure that's the issue...seems more like inconsistent effort and being lackadaisical...
So tempting with those measurables...
Dont know if they'd consider bringing him down to Mankato or not. Probably not if they think Floyd is still salvageable.
I would be ok lining up DGB AND MOBO at the goal line I think...

7. Minnesota VikingsI'm a pretty big fan of the Vikings' receivers. Adam Thielen shocked everyone last year with a 967-yard season. And Stefon Diggs added in 903 yards in 13 games. But, like most teams, they're lacking depth.
The Vikings could be a playoff contender in 2017 if they can stay healthy. That's why I like the idea of bringing in DGB for what is essentially a summer tryout.

That's what Rudolph and Hodges are here for. And isn't Floyd 6'3 as well?
With Floyd already here (for however many games) and far more proven than DGB, I think this is a non-starter. And though hardly DGB's size, we keep forgetting that Jarius Wright is still breathing and a competent WR too.
I think the Vikings approach is going to be to sort out Treadwell/Floyd/Wright as the 3/4/5 WR's, with Adams being a 6th "WR" to return kicks. The Vikings are too busy trying to save their own highly drafted WR from busting to take on someone else's as well.
I think if we wanted to get a DGB-esque reclamation project, we'd just have kept Patterson. I'm not sure what DGB offers our team over Wright.
