Top 5 QBs
1. Will Levis - Easiest route to NFL. Has some bust factor if this rumored "aloof" attitude shows up in the NFL, but unlike all of the others, he already knows how to play in an NFL offense, under NFL levels of pressure, and with receivers who don't get five yards of separation on every route (see Young and Stroud). Has some issues he needs to clean up, but he has the quickest release in this class, the best arm (will throw side arm, ala Mahomes at times to fit the ball into skinny windows) and he runs like Josh Allen.
2. Bryce Young - If he were 6-2, 220, he'd be first on this list and it wouldn't be close. Arm, accuracy, intelligence, leadership, field vision and creativity says he hits, but the size could be a limiting factor long term. Very little bust factor though. Highest floor among QBs. Size is only reason I have him below Levis.
3. Hendon Hooker - This is the QB I've changed my mind about most. Limited offense, but runs it well. He'll need a year or two, but I like his chances. Clean mechanically (QB guru MIke Martz called his mechanics “almost perfect.”) And in terms of character he’s top level. Compared to Teddy Bridgewater in that respect. Cris Carter called him a CEO type. And Jim Nagy compared him to Jalen Hurts. I don’t care about his age or his knee. In 3 or 4 years no one will care that he’s 28, 29. The only thing that will matter is if he's playing QB at an NFL level.
4. Anthony Richardson - Classic boom or bust. But while his upside is through the roof, his downside is in the cellar. If he gets the 2+ years he needs, he could eventually be great. Are NFL teams that patient? Rarely. But 6-4, 244, 4.43 forty, 40-inch vert. Are you ****ing kidding me? Culpepper size. Vick speed. NFL teams will ruin him if they play him before 2025.
5. CJ Stroud - Most accurate QB in the draft. But it’s not hard to be accurate when you’ve got one read, you have five minutes to throw and your receivers are open by 5 yards. I also don't like what's between his ears and I've been saying this since last year. The 18% cognitive score only confirms it. You can see it in interviews and in some of the decisions he makes on the field. No doubt he’s talented, and he has a chance if he can get some time to develop, but Stroud is my pick for this class’s most likely bust.
This Tweet made me laugh loud.
I am not sure If Will Levis is going to be good or bad.. what I do know is that he is NOT what the Texans need with this new regime and this new direction of the franchise.. the Texans just need to do the Right thing and take one of the top QB’s with minimal issues.
Oh yeah, the one with minimal issues. Love that guy.
So a little birdie told me that the Vikings do indeed have 'strong' interest in Richardson. He made an impression on them. But the odds are they probably can't make something work unless they get some help and a little luck with how things fall. The feeling is KOC is going to be a QB whisperer for a young QB coming in. So that rumor that's been out there a bit seems to have some legs. Take with a grain....

But if you want a piece of clay to mold, Richardson is probably the one you target.

I know the bust factor is high, but in a few years there is also the real possibility that he is the best player to come from this draft class, so I see the risk as a potential huge payoff. You just don't see guys built like him and possessing that kind of size and ability. I've never seen a guy with a lower body like that at quarterback. Literally tree trunks for legs and Culpepper-esque.
Worst thing that happens is we shit the bed. He sucks. We get a good pick after we’re done paying off the pick.Thing is I don’t want to lose KOC. I’m sold that he’ll win us a SB.
I think regardless, all these guys are risky picks for one reason or another. So if you are going to take a swing, might as well swing big on the big kid who has the potential to be a revolutionary type player if coached up right. I can see the logic in it while also acknowledging he carries the biggest risk due to a general lack of games played.On the Culpepper comparison, Daute was quite the stud and Denny Green took a swing and brought him up the right way. You'd have to take a similar approach with Richardson. Daunte's combine numbers;
6'4"/255 pounds
4.52/40
39" vertical
5" hands
.10 cent brainFixed it for ya.

@"Geoff Nichols" said:For sure. He had a hand in Goff's development. He helped turn Matthew Stafford into a Super Bowl winning QB. And he turned Cousins into a much less risk-averse QB. Even got him to use the F-word a couple times. That in itself should've won him coach of the year.@"MaroonBells" said:Guess I would rather have it that way than an offensive coach who publicizes he has no ability to develop a quarterback lol.@"StickyBun" said: So a little birdie told me that the Vikings do indeed have 'strong' interest in Richardson. We draft a QB high and the franchise changes. We probably don't renew Kirk for the 2024 season. We put a time table for Kam and Koc to put up or shut up. Anyone older still on the roster is absolutely out the door because we're retooling. Drafting the future face of the franchise is a big deal.
I kinda like the idea of maybe moving Hunter and picks at 12 if the QB they like is still there. Maybe we can get it done for our 1st, Hunter and a 2nd next year?

I really don't want to say as I only really get to speak with this person maybe twice a year and he's very worried about optics, so I really would rather not even hint. I'm no insider and he doesn't always know/share and this person is no insider in a big way either. Seriously. But he has told me things in the past that have been correct. And honestly, all he really said was that Minnesota feels good about Richardson....that in no way means anything will happen. Teams like lots of players they never Draft every single year.
I know some fans aren't sold on KAM and KOC, but they have a lot of believers in both in Eagan.p.s. Minnesota would REALLY like to draft a QB....and I think Geoff and whomever his connection is agrees with that. Not sure it will happen however.

My closest connection to the team was a muscle trainer for the Colquitt's. Obviously that dried up. Said Britton was not a fan of MN at the time. Britton renewed and punted again that season but that was his last in MN.
Brett Kollman just mocked us moving up to 3 for Richardson.
Man the Vikings are either very serious about landing one of the top QBs, or have just about everyone fooled into thinking they are.

Us included! In 2019, we knew we wanted a center and Bradbury was an easy prediction. I made it January. In 2020, we knew we'd take a receiver. Only question was which one. In 2021, Christian Darrisaw was pretty obvious. I predicted our first two picks would be Darrisaw and Mond. Nailed it. Last year, most thought we'd pick a CB then a Safety. Vikings reversed that but same positions.
This year, nobody has a clue. Could be QB, could be CB, could be 5T, could be Edge, could be ILB, could be WR. And I'd put equal weight on the possibility of each. Only thing we know for damn near certain is that it won't be an OL.

You have to hit if you're using 3x 1's and "some 2s". It sure would be easier to swallow if we could get him in the 10 range.

That draft doesn't have Levis or Hooker going in the 1st round for what its worth.
Decent tube:

There seems to be movement on Hendon Hooker. Seeing a lot of folks moving him into the 3rd QB spot ahead of Richardson and Levis. How this plays out with the QB's tomorrow is anybody guess.
Let’s see, we’ve got 1 untouchable, 1 moron, 1 lump of clay, & 1 wild card. Throw in a Hooker, & I’m looking to next years Qb crop… Give me a D lineman that can affect the passing game please!!! ;) B)
I think I'm all in on Richardson. If you want choice, you have to trade to #3. If you're willing to wait around the next spot looks to be #10 but there's a QB drafting gauntlet between 4-8
4) Indianapolis Colts
5) Seattle Seahawks (from Denver)
6) Detroit Lions (from L.A. Rams)
7) Las Vegas Raiders
8) Atlanta Falcons

One thing for sure is, I'm glad we have a coach like KOC to develop a young QB. And with that being said I still think we make the big jump to get one of these guys. I believe KOC and KAM will want to put their stamp on this team and select their guy to go forward with.

Maybe just a new GM flexing to see what he can do if necessary in coming years? I don’t mind that if so, actually.
BUT if not— and I mentioned this in another thread— I do think KAM decided very early on last year that he was moving back at all costs. This year he very well may have decided the opposite. I’m not going to pretend to be smart enough to get inside the mind of some analytics genius but he does strike me as a guy who sees something he wants and goes and gets it.
All I know is thank God the draft is finally tomorrow so that I can either start watching all of the games on our QBOTF and convincing myself he’s the next Mahomes, or carry on living my life haha. Either option is better than this agonizing wait!
