Getting whipped by a superior team so far
we are going to need to get a turnover back and sustain some drives to stay in this game.
I don't know if they are a superior team, but it's been a terrible effort so far. They started off weird by keeping the ball on the coin toss and then we saw a classic example of the worst of Cousins of where he held onto the ball for too long on 3rd down and lost the fumble. Cousins has had quite a few plays where he holds onto the ball and then the pocket collapses around him. It's one of his traits that always frustrates me. To be fair, the OL, especially after Darrisaw got hurt, deserve a lot of the blame for the pocket collapsing.
On defense, they are just not finishing plays to get off the field. The worst one is when Za'Darius Smith should have had a sack deep in Dallas territory, but he couldn't finish the play and then Prescott ran for a 2-yard game. There's been plays like that all game, where they are not finishing plays and are letting themselves get gouged on the ground.
A let down game is normal, but with how O'Connell has been bucking so many of the problems that we've had in the past, I thought he would keep the team on track. Unfortunately, it felt like once they fumbled on the opening drive, they just never really got things on track.
What really worries me are the continued issues in the red zone. Early in the season, they were doing creative scheming to get guys open and it seems like teams have adapted to it now. To be fair, there are also execution issues most notably with Hockenson's two drops in/near the end zone. He should be a target they can rely on there. I am not sure what they do to get the red zone issues right, but it's been a problem for a few weeks and the matchups are not getting any easier.
This defense looks absolutely lost today, as does the entire team.
they are dominating LOS on both sides and winning rep after rep in coverage, on the ground, in pass pro, pass rush. We are a good team, but this is a dominant beat down at home.
Not really, coming out flat and not getting the job done is more like it.
Lose the rest get a better pick. Hate the cowboys.
Laughable, this has nothing to do with being flat, or making unforced errors they are just getting beat all over the field.
Getting Cousins killed might be a good way to end a feel good season.
I think it's a hangover from the Bills game.
Yeah they aren't a juggernaut but no way if they play the Cowboys ten times they get whipped like this every time.
Got rolled up and smoked. Sucks. Flush it and move on quick for NE on Thursday. Hopefully Darrisaw and Evans or Dantzler can go.
My affiliate just put me out of my misery and switched coverage to the Bengals/Pitt game...As they said, a more competitive game. lol

I want to see the locker room speech after this one. Ziggy and Mark Wilf moping around asking players if they can still dance...
Dallas dominated at the LOS.
When Dallas made cousins nervous this game was decided.

I dont buy the hangover argument, but i totally agree with your second paragraph.
The vikes are a good team, Cowboys are a really good team that played great today. Run this back 5 times in each stadium, Pokes win 8. They dominated us.
edit. Everyone in the stadium knew the pokes were running the ball all day long and we had no answer.
Season isnt over and we can get better, but this was a shot to the gut today.
I've been a Vikings fan for nearly 60 years. This is what they do. They get you excited and then they do this. It's so typical. When you expect little, they might supersede your expectations. When you start thinking, "Hmmm, maybe this IS the year, then the gong goes off and you realize you're on the gong show.
Another year another disappointment. So why bother???

If you were told the Vikings would go 2-1 over the last 3 everyone would have taken it.
Now is when we get to learn about O'Connell. What can he do with this team on a short week after getting pounded.
I expected a 9-8 season, so we’re way ahead of my expectations.
