Masterpiece theatre
As a poster who was cautioning everyone, including myself, not to expect too much too soon...we got a masterpiece in game 1 of a new regime, new scheme, new era!
3 penalties, 0 turnovers, double digit win vs our most hated rival and defending division champs = a masterpiece.
We beat them in every facet of the game - coaching, execution, run game, pass game, defense, ST's
I'm in awe of a complete game. Seriously, even when we had great defenses (zimmer), or great offenses it has been extremely rare for our team to work in unison and complete a game with no hiccups.
What a win!!!!!
Fantastic coaching, everyone was prepared. Veterans came to play and young guys made contributions. Any day Rodgers is pissy is a win. Also there were hardly any Packers fans at the game today.
Excellent win today. Kudos to KOC, his staff and of course the players.
Defense was good in the bend but don't break dept. Offense started strong, but that second half was dog shit. Where was Irv Smith Theilen, or anyone not named Cook or Jefferson?
Anytime we beat an A A Ron led Packers team it's a good day, but they were missing so much of their offense, I'm not ready to call it a great performance.

I am because you play whoever is on the field period. Their defense is legit. I am thinking about how they adjust against Philly. They have some defensive talent, receivers and Hurts can be successful. It was a great start. There was some issues in the second half but a win is a win. It will be interesting to see how they adjust opponent to opponent.

Yep. It is still just week one.
That is as good of a debut from O'Connell as we could hope for. The team was energized, the offense was aggressive, the D was out there making plays in critical situations, and long established patterns were gone. I liked Zimmer, but it was clear that he had run his course. Very impressive debut.

They have a team as well, that plays defense and has an offense. Dog shit is way too harsh. Rust for both teams. This is why I say fans sometimes are too close to the forest to see the trees. If you're looking for perfection, its always a few plays away.

I know only one week but how many times in recent memory have we beat the Packers that easily with an overall team game. No Rodgers heroics and no stupid decisions or late TO's/mistakes to let them back in the game. We took a lead and never blew it. Only 3 penalties in a new scheme with new coaching and around 8 new starters and zero turnover's....to me that is a masterful game and week 1. I could not have hoped for better. I am not trying to get overly excited because the worst is sure to show it's ugly head somewhere along the way but we also just showed that we can compete and beat anyone. GB is no joke and it does look like we caught them at the right time but so what that was as convincing a win of the whole weekend.
Sure there was room for improvement, but dayum and c'mon people
That was a 39 win team the last 3 seasons
Reigning MVP 2 years in a row
In Last 2 CG's
Thats a mighty big mountain to climb for a first year coach.

People can mock the "touchy, feely-ness" of that all they want, but I think it makes a difference in crucial situations--from untimely OL penalties to kickers getting in their head to giving up points at the end of the half. We saw none of that--none of the, as you put it, "long established patterns."
@"MaroonBells" said:It’s more about escaping the negativeness of the end of the Zimmer era. Hard-ass coaches and “Touchy Feely” types both eventually wear out their welcome if they don’t consistently win. Bottom line, we came out, and we were organized with very little to no game action for most starters. That’s a win in the first week of the season.@"Tyr" said: That is as good of a debut from O'Connell as we could hope for. A tweet I read this morning: "They beat a GB team that is terrible no offensive talent outside Rodgers. Kirk was unable to once again sustain drives and put the game away. Take it easy this team is not good."
No idea who this person is, but I'd bet good money he predicted a Packers win...just after kicking his dog.

Yep. I don't get the hedging. Its a big win. If you can't enjoy the wins because you are too shell shocked waiting for the other shoe to drop, how is that at all fun as a fan?
I stayed guarded all game and wanted a TD on the last field goal. i have just seen too much of Rodgers talent, Packers luck, and ref interference.
However, I did completely enjoy the game and especially Aaron’s facial expressions.

What up Debbie downer? Every team has a bend don't break defense in the 21st century NFL. They sacked Rodgers in key moments, forced a pick, forced a fumble, had a goal line stand. Great job for a defense with a mixed of new starters, old starters, and a brand new scheme.
Offensively, I guess you forgot how good of a defense GB has. They have arguably the number 1# defense in the NFC with 10 returning starters. The offense did well overall, was productive when we needed them to be in the second half, only gave up a sack. ALSO their first game as a group with this offense. It will get better, but doesn't need much to be elite.
Welp, I guess we will have to swallow a statement performance against our biggest rival and the NFC's best regular season team the last 2 years. Poor us

After last year, when the Vikings were leading in a lot of games and then lose it in the final minutes...I can understand some people were waiting for the other shoe to drop and say "Here we go again". Hopefully with a new coaching staff, new players and a lot better atmosphere/attitude we may not see this as much.

That's what is getting lost in all this. Sure, their receivers are young and they were missing their tackles, but the Packers have a really really good defense...and it was at full strength.
What a win! GD that was fun yesterday!
Hope I’m not getting too far ahead of myself when I say Justin Jefferson is good at the football. :p
Packer passing attack was out of sync and they probably should have ran the ball more, but our defense stepped up, made key plays, and had an actual pass rush! Z’darius and 99 looked great, man I hope they can stay mostly healthy all year.
That goalline stand on 4th n 1 was such a beauty. Phillips and Z’darius— 2 offseason additions— made a giant play. So cool to see.
Greg Joseph was nails. Not many penalties. Dalvin looked spry against a stiff defense. Kirk made some very solid throws in big spots.
Just all around sweet.
3 concerns just because nothing is perfect:
1. Pat Pete. Maybe it was just rust but I’m worried about what might happen against AJ Brown next week.
2. KO- had a couple bonehead moments where the playclock expired but nothing major. New coach, no biggie.
3. Kirk’s gotta get other guys involved. JJ is all-world and if we want to use him like DaVante Adams in GB then I guess I’ll just have to get used to it haha, but I think getting Irv, Adam, and KJ involved is probably a better longterm strategy. I expect some tweaks over the next few weeks, but we won so what do I know!
Bottom line- SKOL! And long live Pouty Rodgers Face!
I was thinking post game I wish we could have run the ball better (and stop the run better too) but then I looked at the stats and decided to keep it to myself for the time being.
I also have my doubts about P2 going into this season. But we'll have to see how the younger DB's grow with some experience as the year goes on. Hell, I'm not enamored with Dantzler's ceiling either to be honest.
