TY McGill was released earlier this morning:

I see the practice squad size is 16 players this season, including 6 veterans… interesting! B)
Players now eligible to return from injured reserve after four games; practice squads increased to 16 players
Players designated for return from the reserve/injured or reserve/non-football injury/illness list are eligible to come back after "four games have elapsed since the date he was placed on the applicable reserve list," per the memo obtained by Garafolo. Previously, players were eligible to return after three games missed.
In addition to changes to injured reserve rules, the NFL and NFLPA recently agreed to changes for the ramp-up period for training camp and changes to practice squads, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
In another alteration to injured reserve protocol, teams will now have eight players permitted to return from IR and/or the reserve/non-football injury/illness list to the 53-man active roster or the practice squad, per season. An individual player can return from IR a maximum of twice per season, but each time counts against the team's allotted eight designations.
The NFL and NFLPA also amended details for ramp-up periods during preseason training camps. On-field sessions that were not allowed to be longer than two hours have now been limited to 90 minutes on Day 2, 105 minutes on Day 3 and remained at two hours on the final two days.

He was always a bit undersized
The #Vikings have placed WR Bisi Johnson and DL T.Y. McGill, Jr. on IR.

CB Tye Smith has been released. T Timon Parris and WR Myron Mitchell have been waived.
So I guess they didn't cut McGill after all, good.
So how does it work again if they want to bring a player off IR on to the 53? Besides making room on the 53...

Would hurt chances to sign such veterans in the future. So, instead, they used his injury as a way to put him on IR (and pay him). I fully expected an injury settlement and release once the dust settles.

Or they are stashing him to see how the line shapes up. He is eligible in week 4?
When are they cutting Mannion so he has a chance to catch on with another team?

My understanding is that if a player has not been put on the 53 before being put on IR, he is unable to return to that team. The team can reach an injury settlement which allows the player to sign with any of the remaining 31 teams.

Yeah, that makes sense now that you bring it up. Hence the injury settlements.
The #Vikings are waiving edge rusher Janarius Robinson, the 2021 4th round pick who missed the 2021 season due to injury. Young player with rare physical traits who should receive waiver wire consideration.

Source said the #Vikings are waiving WR Trishton Jackson. He had been a candidate to be a No. 6 receiver after Bisi Johnson injury.

Man, this draft class is looking UGLY.
Cleveland is releasing center Brock Hoffman.

Minnesota is releasing LB Chazz Surratt.
The Vikings are waiving LB Chazz Surratt, per @AdamSchefter.

If Wyatt Davis gets cut later today, that would be three out of their four third-round picks from last year gone.

Definitely some misses in the 3rd and 4th round last year. But don't forget our starting safety was among those picks, as was Fast Kenny and Patrick Jones, who looks to be 1st off the bench at Edge. But since most 3-7 rounders never amount to anything, draft classes are mostly evaluated by the success or failure of the 1st rounder, which was Darrisaw, so....

Totally
The Chazz Surrat pick made no sense then, even less now. Rick was a solid GM but that pick was pure hubris. Maybe he'll do a tiktok explaining his thought process on that one.
