Interesting. Someone actually mentioned Mullens as a strong possibility for us during the Raiders game. PA maybe?
If these means Mannion gets punted into the solar system and slowly floats away then I’m all for it. Good move, KAM!
27 years old, passed a ton in college and played some NFL football for the 49ers and Eagles. Definitely better than Sean and Kellen. Shows the staff is definitely not loving their backup situation.
How in the world do you trade someone for a 7th rounder 2 drafts from now? Is that like an undrafted player in next years draft lol?
....ok, got hopefully QB #2 for this season. How about TE #2? There's a need but that may come on last cuts.
He is a gamer and can actually make plays. This is a GREAT move for the Vikings. Now for a starting quality center.........
Wow, great job Kwesi. Spielman would hav given up a 4th. Very good edition.
I bet this has Spielman shaking his head in disbelief that somebody could be so careless with their future 7th round picks.

LOL. Yeah, talk about meaningless comp. QBs, even backups, typically go for more than that. This is a good move, good trade and Mullens is a guy from a similar offense and plenty of starting experience. We can now breathe easier....
2. Mullens' 4,405 passing yards in his first 16 starts mark the second-most by any quarterback in NFL history in that span, trailing only Patrick Mahomes (5,100). Mullens has played in 19 career games with 16 starts, tossing 387 completions for 4,714 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Sounds good, BUT ???
IIRC yeah he played for Kyle Shanahan in SF and put up some stats behind a not so good oline.
The dude is no Case Keenum but the difference between him and Mannion is unbelievable. Mond to the practice squad for another year. Miracles happen I guess. We probably need to invest significant draft capital in a QB next year.....this coming from a Cousins supporter.
Ok, back to the compensation. A conditional 7th 2 years from now would lead me to believe not only does he have to make our roster this year. He has to make our roster next year to give up anything in this trade.

Threw for about 5K yards.
Mullens is exactly the type of backup that Keenum was/is. This was a good move. Hopefully kicks Mannion off the roster and let's Mond have another year to adjust to the speed of the NFL.
o/u on what week that we see our first thread calling for Mullins to play over Cousins? Week 5

My thought all along, and what I tried to tell @DanBarreiroKFAN and other naysayers, was that the Vikings' new brain trust wanted to see Mannion and Mond with fresh eyes, knowing that backup QBs usually shake loose in late August. Mullens isn't a home run but was a necessary add.

That’s my QB2 “I just love football”
