I see you Minnesotans received some white, fluffy goodness at the end of March. Yuck. High of 25 today. God bless you guys......but never again for me.  ;)

Vikings sure seem confident in their ability to land one of the top QBs despite having the 11th pick. And Mark Wilf in his interview the other day was almost beaming when talking about their "plan." Makes me wonder if the Vikings don't have a Godfather agreement with all of the teams between 2 and 5.

I think its just due diligence. I just don't sense a 'Godfather' agreement.....in fact, I think some fans are going to be a little disappointed if they think Minnesota is going to move up to a slot above #5. What my opinion is is that KOC and KAM believe that QBs aren't going to go 1, 2, 3....somebody is going to slide. I think they've convinced ownership of this. I also think the Wilfs are a little glad to move on from Cousins and move forward on what 'could be'. I think ownership felt they were at their ceiling of success with Kirk under center and they want more. Or they like a QB like Penix, Nix, etc. damn close to what they like about JJM or Maye. One of those two things.

Chicago, Washington and New England need a QB as desperately as Minnesota. I wish that weren't the case. And then the Giants. I just can't fathom there would be any real confidence in a plan to move up with all the moving parts. I think its mostly a facade to keep fans intrigued.

Or you're right, MB....lol. I can't discount that 100%. I just can't see the path.

It seems a bit much for due diligence. I don't think they'd be wasting their time if they didn't have a path make it happen. You don't see them doing work on Caleb Williams. There's no shot there. But for a team with the 11th pick, they sure seem to be doing a lot of work on players projected to go 2, 3 and 4. Maybe it's not a deal yet, or even a handshake agreement. But there's something there that is driving this.

I guess I dont see anything in the Vikings behavior that leads me to believe they got themselves a wink, a nod, a secret handshake with anyone...All just doing their due diligence.

I've pretty much given-up on getting a top 4 QB. too many needy teams ahead of us. I'm prepped for Darnold in 24 and a DL @ 11.

As far as the snow goes, boy did we need it. Literally nothing on the ground a week ago which is unheard of. Plus we're coming out of a drought this past summer/fall too. The earth and critters needed this snowfall, now I hope it rains like hell in April.

Its bad here.

Are they spending all this time with JJM because the real target is someone else?  Considering the secret squirrel mentality that permeates TCO, telegraphing JJM to the world seems out of character, a smokescreen...?

As for the Giants, I'm not sure Brian Daboll wants to start with a rookie in year 3 when it might put him out of a job if it blows up in his face.

For what it’s worth, PFF’s big board has JJM at 28, Nix at 33 and Penix at 42.  QB’s are over drafted and we didn’t trade with the Texans so we could stand pat, but if our board doesn’t fall and a massive overpay is required, there will be players we like at 11 and 23.
If KAM/KOC decide one of those 3 is worthy of 11, I’ll get behind it and hope they are right.

in the history of PFF, has any notable QB worth taking been gotten at their position on the big board or later?  I always kind of assume that whatever the pundits say for a QB... move it up about 30 picks.

Malik Neighbors just blazed a blistering 4.35 at the LSU Pro Day. Giants would be very hard pressed to not go MHJ or Neighbors if either were to fall in their laps. That offense doesn't scare anybody right now

Looking at KOC's quote on the Pat McAfee show...Penix ain't gonna be it.
I think it's between Bo Nix and JJM.  JJM didn't exactly light it up, but he had a superior 72.3% completion last season (an improvement from the prior year's middling 64.6 and the prior year 57.6%)

Kevіn O’Connell, Vіkіngs аppeаr out on Mіchael Penіx Jr.Whіle O’Connell wаs tаlking аbout how іmportant аccurаcy іs to the mаking of аn elіte NFL quаrterbаck, MсAfee jumрed іn on the heаd сoaсh wіth, “So… Mіchael Penіx Jr?” To thаt, O’Connell ѕtopped… рaused… аnd then reрeated hіmself whіle сhuсkling аnd eventuаlly trаiling off, “I thіnk аccurаcy іs the number one trаit…”
You hаve to wаtch thіs сlip for yourѕelf… іt hаs to be the moѕt сaught deаd on а queѕtion thаt I’ve ever ѕeen wіth KOC. I meаn, tаlk аbout а deаd gіveaway.

KOC : “I thіnk аccurаcy іs the number one trаit thаt NFL quаrterbаcks need to hаve beсause…
MсAfee : “Oh, ѕo Penіx…?”

KOC : “I thіnk аccurаcy іs the number one trаit… hаhа ”

Pаt MсAfee Show

Aѕ а сollege quаrterbаck, Penіx Jr hаs а lot of exрerience. He рlayed аt Indіana for four yeаrs, before trаnsferring for two more ѕeaѕonѕ аt Wаshington. Hіs сompletion рercentage ѕkyrocketed onсe he got to Seаttle аnd there’ѕ reаlly no doubtіng hіs рroduction.
Aѕ а 23-yeаr-old ѕuper ѕenior, Penіx threw for 4,903 yаrds on 363-of-555 рasses (65.4 CMP %), іncludіng 36 touсhdowns аnd 11 іnterceptіons. Wаshington went to the Nаtionаl Chаmpionship, where they were аbsolutely deѕtroyed by the Mіchіgan Wolverіnes.
There hаve been а lot of ѕmokeѕcreenѕ flyіng аround the NFL Drаft world reсently, but one quаrterbаck the Mіnnesota Vіkіngs hаve not been аssociаted wіth іs Mіchael Penіx Jr. And unleѕѕ they’re рulling off one of the moѕt elаborаte ѕmoke ѕcreenѕ іn NFL drаft hіstory, I thіnk іt’s ѕafe to аssume thаt іs for а reаson.

After doіng hіs homework, Kevіn O’Connell doeѕ not ѕee Mіchael Penіx Jr аs а QB who іs аccurаte enough to beсome а frаnchise guy іn the NFL. If the Vіkіngs аre tаrgeting а lаter 1ѕt round quаrterbаck, іt’ll lіkely be Bo Nіx (who they hаve been tіed to а сouple tіmes reсently).

While I think the Vikings really do like Mac and Maye, people are putting way too much into this McAfee interview. I think it's possible KOC just didn't hear him. There was a lot of cross talk.

And where did you paste this from? It reads like an article, but the writer doesn't sound very bright. First of all, completion percentage has very little to do with accuracy. Second, "After doіng hіs homework, Kevіn O’Connell doeѕ not ѕee Mіchael Penіx Jr аs а QB who іs аccurаte enough to beсome а frаnchise guy іn the NFL."

The writer got THAT from this 10 second sound bite?!! Michael Penix has many flaws. Accuracy is not one of them.

I don't thing we should take anything from it. He either didn't hear the question or he just didn't want to talk about specific players. But if there was something to it, I agree that your take is probably more likely.

Second, "After doіng hіs homework, Kevіn O’Connell doeѕ not ѕee Mіchael Penіx Jr аs а QB who іs аccurаte enough to beсome а frаnchise guy іn the NFL."

thats how I interpreted the pause, I am betting KOC had already told them he wasnt going to talk specifics on players or their draft rankings,  and when McAfee went for it right out of the gate like that it probably gave him a bit of pause.  I am sure KOC would love to tell us all how he views what is likely to most exciting group of QBs to enter a draft the same year in a long long time,  but that doesnt really help him as a HC of a team needing a new QB.  I think anybody looking into it as an indication of how they feel or dont feel about MP is just looking for bias confirmation.

A talking head on espn this morning said that Rattler was the best QB in Mobile this year, a group that included Nix and Penix obviously

My opinion of Rattler has flipped 180 degrees since the draft evaluation period started. Going in I thought his ceiling was no higher than a back up. Now I think that he can be a low end starter. Somewhere in the range of Baker, Geno, Danny Dimes.
