Zimmer and company
Well isn’t wonderful that apparently Zimmer and company are back again next year! As I sit here today, knowing what I’ve seen from him for 7 years now, I am going to have a very tough time envisioning anything more than mediocre next season. Sigh
Yes, probably..
Just been posting the same before I read this thread..agree.
Not thrilled about next year. Waaay more questions leading into next year then most of the previous under an average HC.
I think the team can return to the playoffs next year. I don't think the fixes are that big. JMO.

But no money to spend and despite the optimism, Pierce is a unknown commodity after a year off, as will be Hunter returning from his potentially career changing injury. Huge question marks at LB and DB as well, offense seems fairly set, but we are still to weak on the interior and although most of that is at LG, Bradbury gets shoved backwards to often as well. And there's still special teams.
I dont see the quick fix, especially when they may have to create more holes to fix the cap issue, and are already down 1 premium draft pick.
Edit: not to mention that elephant everybody forgot, Hunter demanding a monster new deal in what will likely be a year of a cap decrease or at best no increase. The timing of that request has me concerned as well about what he heard from that specialist he went to see, will he be back 100% or did he get some news that told his agent to strike now before his client is devalued due to a health/injury matter?

Almost made the playoffs this year. As you mention, I'm counting on Pierce and Hunter coming back and being impactful....obviously, if that doesn't happen its a big blow. The offense is solid. The D should be better but yes, still some cap issues to deal with for the upcoming offseason. I just feel like they'll be decent next season and I'm not the polly-anna type.
1 game away from making the playoffs in a year our D was decimated.

I dont know that I would go so far as to say the offense is solid.
Making the playoffs seems to be the high bar around here. No chance of doing real damage there or winning a title. I guess the exercise in perpetual average is enough for most fans.

Our goal every year is to win the division at minimum so that we are in position for a deep playoff run not a squeeze in wild card. Zimmer's record in the division is not good going into his 8th year.
"Almost made the playoffs" in a season in which the NFL added a 7th team and the NFC is so weak we have 2 teams in the playoffs at or under .500. If they go back to only 6 teams and/or the NFC toughens up a bit, next year that 7-9 will stop feeling like "almost".
Reality: this is a 3rd place team which got 5 of its 7 wins beating losing teams, and only defeated 1 team with a winning record all season. Other than the Bears and Packers, we did not defeat any team that finished with more than 5 wins. 1-7 against winning teams. Oh yeah, we would do some damage in the playoffs!!
They won't be better next year - they will be worse. The Wilfs are just prolonging the inevitable if they accept the bullshit excuses for this season and the entire Zimmer regime.
I sure hope he is. Changing coaches sucks. How many failures happen every year in the carousel? And those teams that win constantly have something in common. Same coaches, same QB

THANK YOU. This regime has passed its sell by date.
