Remember that from Meathead lol!

Man, I had texts last night from people telling me to sell my season tix, the team sucks.

C'mon, 3 pts in 12 pre-season drives from the 1st team offense doesn't stoke your confidence?

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

I think they did about as much as they could in one off-season on the OL. We knew Remmers was not exactly Big K at RT. I think Easton next to Elflein is how we should go and keep Boone out of the starting line-up.

You're not going to turn that shit-show of an OL completely around in one off-season.

Dalvin has shown some flashes but glad we have a veteran and depth with LM. He's still knocking a ton of rust off.

Lots of players just didnt play well last night (i.e. Smith etc.) so I take the win with a grain of salt. Replacement for Greenway????

Will be ready to judge more after the first few real games. They need to win early this season with how the schedule plays out.

I know Zimmer doesn't like to show his hand, on offense or defense, and that might especially be the case this year. But at the end of the day, it always comes down to beating the guy across from you and the Vikings are not doing that on either side of the ball. I have to say it's pretty alarming.

What excuse to we have for the defense?  The only thing worse than the pass protection was our entire starting D.  Was that Hoyer or Montana in his prime?

I hope they are still working on things with the secondary.  IIRC they didnt blitz until late in the 2nd quarter and it was effective so I am not overly concerned yet, however I am concerned we are getting to light on the OL with Hunter,  granted he was still able to make a play or 2, and he was going up against a mountain of a man,   but he was moved off the LOS pretty consistently last night,  but so was everybody else I guess.

Shanahan carved up our defense with his creative playcalling. Something we have yet to see from Shurmur who's offense doesn't look any different than the crap we had last year after an entire offseason to install his complete system. Bradford is getting anxious and dumping the ball to the check down option when he doesn't have to. Our pass protection has definitely improved. That isn't saying much, but he does have more time to throw down field, especially when Elfein and Easton are on the line together. I agree that Boone shouldn't start, but they are paying him too much money and won't admit they made a mistake. We can't score points, and in the NFC, the elite teams we have to beat to make the playoffs can put up huge numbers. Our D won't hold up to those Elite offensive attacks IMO because you have to play mistake free football to have any chance at winning. Thinking we can beat teams 13-10 every week with a mistake free ball control approach is unrealistic.

I don't need them to score points, or win games. Just look like you know what you are doing out there. This was the third preseason game and what is usually billed as the tune up for the starters going into the season. Aside from Bradford I saw very little positives from the starting offensive unit. Unfortunately one of the things that was positive from bradford was his ability to to escape the unblocked pressure.... He had a good completion percentage as well. I suppose Treadwell caught a pass. That was nice. Cook had no holes to run through at all. We know Diggs can catch the ball. He just had the drops for some reason.... I won't even speculate on that because who knows.... But the starters looked like they really weren't putting in much effort as a whole

I recall that Zimmer added some new things to the defense this season and that's great, but your defense needs to be able to play it. We won't see much more from the starters next week, so we have to hope that they are going to be ready for live bullets in a couple weeks through practice. When Harrison Smith is completely lost on coverage.... we have some catching up to do. Ben Gedeon is not a starting linebacker right now. He should be playing with the second teamers max. Right now in my opinion he is Raonall Smith. Fast, but lost in the sauce out there. That isn't a slam on the player. Not at all. He just shouldn't be in that situation. The team shouldn't be in that position. The retort to that is that he looked good in PS games 1 & 2.... but that was PS games 1 & 2.... But every team has weak links right? Absolutely. But when the overall look is that they aren't able to compete or to competently be where they should.... I dunno. I have hope that they will get it. But will they?

This was the one time that watching the second and third stringers was the most enjoyable part of the game. They at least looked like they wanted to be there. The starters not so much.

I will be more concerned about the D when it counts, yes they are getting gouged, but they are also play very soft serve vanilla D,  they werent trying to create issues for San Fran last night.  Hell they didnt blitz that I recall until near the 2 minute warning of the 1st half.

I'm less concerned about Gedeon starting as I am on the continued disappearance of Anthony Barr. Hendricks makes plays and is noticeable on the field. Barr has been missing in action since the 2015 season.

You can tell they are adding things on defense when Harrison is off. I noticed that in training camp. I also noticed him talking things through with Coach Zimmer more both during the game and in camp. Smith is a smart, hard working guy so I do believe he will figure it out. There were a lot more huddles with Zimmer and Edwards last night. I have to wonder if there is still some adjustment to him not calling plays. Of course BRob in the sidelines hurts too. Barr and Kendricks kept rotating and there was a lot of pointing to each other in order to be sure of who was covering who.

The Vikings' argument is likely that the 49ers are a bad team full of guys like Hoyer trying to prove themselves and win jobs.

But that means the Vikings are relaxing because they consider themselves a good team, or the starters think they are established. They better realize they are not either of those.

BRob on the sidelines shouldnt be much of an excuse when the team has basically handed the starting LDE job to Hunter this year.

It's a factor. It's leadership. And that's where Hunter went after each play. He would talk to BRob. It was also weird seeing Chad Greenway on the sidelines in street clothes with his family.

yes he went to him,  but its Hunters job now... its not like BRob being sidelined was going to change how Hunter played.  I dont see them back tracking on Hunters playing time unless he really shits the bed or is unable to go.

I dont know why he is always playing off coverage... and by off I mean can he even see the fucker he is guarding because he is that far off the LOS.  ( i hope this is part of the scheme that they are playing with and not a lack of confidence by him.  his lack of anything close to a press is what makes those slants so easy to complete.   The hunter thing is just plain not ready for that speed,  but the garcon shit really was pissing me off.

Right? And the talent that Waynes has is his makeup speed. That's one of the things he was known for. If you have a guy with makeup speed, then get him up closer on the line... Because if he develops a talent for jamming at the line then you have a guy that can be the complete package..... Also teach him to get his damn head around. He could have been flagged a couple times last night for that.

would like to think this is a rookie head coach teaching his team the offense with lots of wrinkles versus a defense that didn't watch film of the team and bit on some of those gadget plays.  But I am concerned.

Lets look to the positive.  Kearse is a beast at 6-5.  Hope he keeps progressing.  Easton and Elflien looked good together again.  McKinnon had a great KR.  Koehn had a 58 yard FG.
