All those who still think the Vikings can win the Super Bowl this year raise your hands. All of you who have risen your hands are either a liar or did not see last nights game.
Never mind the score. Look at the 14-0 deficit by the starting teams. Adrian Peterson is going to shred the Viking run defense and Brees is going to do the same with the pass defense. Even though it's preseason and everything is vanilla and hidden, a tackle is still a tackle. A pass is still a pass. A catch is still a catch. A block is still a block. A hole is still a hole. The starters did none of these things. They looked flat and tired.
It seems to be the same old offense with the one back set and the defense still commits to the run blitz to the quarterback and stuffs the play. It's year 4 of Zimmer and if the Vikings implode in 2017, it's time to start thinking that Zimmer's scheme is not working and a change should come forthright.
The 58 yard field goal was the high light of the game, but based on the way the ball curved one could tell that eventually he would do a Blair Walsh and miss. It happened on the 47 yard try.
I would rather be a pessimist and be surprised then an optimist and be disappointed.

....but they were playing the in the Superbowl. They were good enough to get there and the 2nd half showed why there were the better team. This isn't even any kind of comparison, with all due respect. We're talking about the Vikings here, who've had O-line issues for awhile now, even before the injuries of last year. What they added with Reiff and Remmers is marginally better, that's it. And we've yet to see if that is 100% accurate as maybe they aren't going to perform better.

It is the preseason. Its the last branch of hope I'm holding onto as far as any kind of optimism, along with they are getting healthy at the right time to start the season. If they look good against New Orleans and win, then this truly was just the garbage of preseason football, washed away.

I've typed out three replys and since my system was knocked on the floor overnight it suddenly "pages back" randomly and I lose everything.    Frustrating as hell...
so I'll just say... yep I agree so I don't have to type any more.

Yikes I don't think I can troubleshoot that!

People are going to overreact about the preseason every year. But what gives me legitimate cause for concern is that the performance we've seen by the defense isn't new. If it were new, we could legitimately dismiss it as no game planning, or poor preparation, or just a bad day. But what we've seen the last three weeks is a continuation of whatever the hell happened to this defense last October. And that's scary as hell. You don't need to be wearing purple sunglasses to see that this defense is stacked. Stacked like few defenses are. Vikings might need a shrink more than they need a coach.

Nobody is talking about the scoreboard. We are all talking about executing the plays in a matter that will matter in the regular season.

This is my biggest concern, something is going on that started last year.  Barr don't look like he gives a damn, and I believe that no matter how good you are, you just can't turn it on when you want.
The OLine looks no better than adequate, Diggs lackadaisical.  You win the games at practice, and you execute what you practice, I haven't been hearing a lot of great things, just optimism.

I can write off SF outplaying us because they game planned and we didn't.  That first half may just be their highlight film for the year, but it sure felt familiar to me.  Sure hope the team looks better stopping VaJayJay and Ajayi.

I have to think and believe that Harry's multiple miscue's the last two games are completely fixable because they were mistakes that I rarely have seen him make in a real game.  He was responsible for both 49'er TD's last week and the week before did a run blitz right past the runner that was one of Seattle's biggest runs.    So Zimmer might have been trying some new things with Harry that screwed him up or maybe he needs to gameplan.

Then Diggs on offense last week - two 12+ yard drops that killed drives.  He had 3 drops all last year.

So, while I understand everyone's angst these are two of our best players who have performed when it counted.

Agreed. So that begs the question...has Zimmer lost this team? There are indications that may be the case. Time will tell I guess.

I don't think Zimmer has lost the team.  Harry and Diggs will be ready when the real games start.

That's the reason you practice in real game situations,  to recognize and attempt to correct those kind of problems before the regular season...common sense.

shit happens,  even the best coached teams have bad loses.   if anything would suggest a lost locker room IMO it would be that debacle in the gbay game with Rhodes and Newman freelancing on the coverage assignments,  however if he really had lost them,  I am sure some would not have been back.

IDK; at least when Rhodes and Newman freelanced, they were probably trying to win. Against Indy, the game which effectively ended their season, the team was uninterested.

A huge part of its mental especially with the defense. They need to get their minds right and their heads out.
