Hurricane Harvey
All I can say is hope and pray for the best for all of us down here near the coast of Texas. What we do know is that the flooding will be catastrophic. Let's hope that the weather forecasters are wrong on their predictions, as they are quite often.
Either way, we look like we are in for about a week of absolutely the worst possible weather we have seen around here in a long long time. Chances are I may not be able to inform you all on what conditions here are looking like.
Take care everyone. And for those of you who are down here with me, I just say please prepare and get out if you can. Hopefully all we will have to put up with where we are is rain and flooding. The flooding but around here that is MAJOR problems. I'll keep you all informed when possible.
@"96POPS" said: We've gotten about 4-5 inches of rain since about 7am so far. We've never had water in our house but I'm sweating it now. I've been digging a trench this morning to ensure we don't. It's not that we are in a low are but more on whoever put the driveway in screwed up. It drains onto the porch if we get too much rain too fast. However we may not be able to leave our street for several days because of high water at both ends.when mother nature turns your front lawn into a river..... go fishin!
Just saw 59 inches of total rainfall from this storm is predicted in a some coastal areas. That's "give up and build an ark" rain fall. No way to keep the water out of a basement or low lands with that much coming down. 5 feet of rain in two or three days... if it happens.. Wow...
60 tornado warning so far. So in addition to the flooding, there is the tornado damage. And so many are without power. Thankfully for some of the most vulnerable, where it hit landfall helped them somewhat. I am glad you are safe Pops. Thanks for the update.
I have my oldest son in the Air Force in Lackland. Anyone know how that area is ? As I have no way to contact him during boot camp. Thank you
My mom was in Brownsville but my brother took her to Eagle Pass. At least that's where they were headed. My aunt left Galveston. Still have fam in Edinburg and McAllen. My uncle in Houston is ok.
POPS & anyone else down there, stay safe! I've got friends there & one of my grandsons is working in Corpus. So far, they are all safe.
10" of rain in the past 24 hours in Splendora. Heavy rain now and according to the radar that's the way it will be for several more hours. We've had reports and damage from several tornadoes in and all around the Houston area. No one injured that I have heard of. I saw of a report of 1 person in Rockport that was killed. No other reports of injuries or deaths that I know of. During a break in the rain yesterday we were out and saw a couple of homes damaged by tornadoes about 35 miles from our home.
wow. stay safe to all our purple bretherin in harms way
this is scary stuff Pops. puts a lot of things in perspective. sending good vibes and prayers. you're a Viking Pops and we are with you.
Thanks .CA. We are doing fine right now. No water in the house. We are pretty high and dry. There's a river through the pasture but it's all good.

@"SFVikingFan" said:We are at 20"+ for the past 2 days. Some models are showing 20+ more over the next 2 days and that's IF the storm does what they think it will.@"96POPS" said: Thanks .CA. Praying for all of you down there. Stay safe. Glad you are high and (relatively) dry. Saw some of Brian's post on FB, I assume Jayme got her horses off to somewhere safe. Their corrals looked like fishing ponds.
