To apparently hit on so many picks and add a 4th and 5th next year seems like an excellent job.

Ouch.

An  interesting idea to try on the Vikings draft.  Looking at the Vikings' picks, the only ones where I'd clearly have done something else are the 5th round with Hand and Osborne.  Instead take Muti @169 and WR Proche @176 .

Kubiak's WR3 has averaged about 25 receptions a season. Yes, that's not per game, that's per SEASON. In a Kubiak offense, the 2nd TE sees more attention than the WR3. And he typically only keeps 4 receivers.

And don't forget that the Vikings added Tajae Sharpe, who was a starter at Tennessee. So Vikings depth at receiver is Thielen, Hunter, Bisi and Tajae Sharpe. That's probably going to be the four who make the roster. Adding anyone else would require cutting one of the above and that's not likely to happen.

Outside looking in are Beebe, Hollins, Davis and MItchell.

I wanted to double dip at WR too, either adding a speed guy or a dependable receiver that we could count on as depth (e.g. Van Jefferson, Tyler Johnson), since there was a massive hole in the offense once Thieln was hurt. Bisi Johnson performed admirably, but he wasn't drawing attention away from Diggs. I do think Jefferson can be here our deep threat. He's a 4.43 guy with a wide catch radius, good route running, and had a lot of success on deep routes. You can certainly argue, that he had favorable matchups in the slot & didn't face as much press man coverage as you'd like to have seen, but he's certainly not just a possession receiver, even if he is drawing comparisons to Michael Thomas & Keenan Allen as high volume receivers. I also think that with Kubiak running so much 12 personnel, that Irv Smith is really our 3rd receiver. TE's normally take some time to develop & he showed some good flashes as a rookie, so he should have a much bigger role in the offense this year. Then we have Bisi Johnson & Taj Sharpe. Both guys are solid receivers & I'm curious to see if Johnson can make a jump in year 2, but it would have been nice to have a burner as a change of pace.

Hard to say about the guys on the outside looking in. Beebe has had some moments, but it will be hard to get slot reps competing with Thielen, Jefferson, & Smith. They seem to like Hollins, though he has an uphill battle. Then there is KJ Osborn, who I'm not counting as a receiver right now. Hopefully, he can step up & be a good return man, but you do wonder if taking a flier on Peoples-Jones would have made more sense, where you get a return man who has a higher upside to develop into a contribtuor at WR.

 Getting someone with some speed still would have been nice. Sharpe is meh and is too much like they already have. I thought the double dipping would have been good this year and they had the capital to do it, and address G or 3T. It is what it is for this year.

Sharpe isn't very fast, but he's a precise route runner. Like Thielen and JJ (don't know why I called him Justin Hunter before LOL). And Bisi come to think of it. Vikings have 4 receivers who Cousins can count on to get separation and be where they're supposed to be.

This group is more well-rounded than what they ran out onto the field last season. The raw talent is less without Diggs, but that doesn't mean they won't be a more productive group as a whole. 

I wouldn't sleep on Irv either. I've said it before from time to time this off-season, but they love him and think he's going to be a major factor. Another name is Mack Hollins. His name starter popping up near the end of last season but he put up some good film. He could end up being the downfield speed threat. I would have to say he's the favorite for the #5 spot in the room. After that you have a slew of talent that could make the roster.
