Per the report, ESPN told Clark during the show because ESPN was receiving media inquiries and the company feared the news would leak before ESPN could tell him. Some would say that’s still better than telling someone they were being let go, you know, while they were on the air.

He sucked. Such an aggro piece of garbage. Good riddance.
Cuts happening at both ESPN and NFL Network. Someone has to pay for McAfee's salary.

Think Mcaffe produces around 50 million or more. He is paid 30 million. Clark and others get paid without producing.

JMO, but here's the Pat M. experience for me (very limited): in a 3 minute period I can go from 'Hey, pretty good points made there...' to 'OMG, what a f-ing goober'. But I'm really not a big fan of ESPN overall.
Karl Ravech is next.....the purge is on. Prepare for the re-org to pander to the 18-35 year old lowest common denominator demo, which will lower the IQ range even further for viewers. Short attention span catering. Memefest. More yelling, more over the top takes.
Bye bye, Tommy P. I actually was ok with him.
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero is expected to get laid off today by ESPN, sources told @FOS.

There should be a market for him, between CBS, Athletic, Netflix, Amazon TNF, etc all having a gap in the insider role.

Redundancy and ESPN's slipping cable subscribers.....
I really miss the old days of ESPN. Sportscenter was great. The hosts were funny seemingly without agendas. I could get everything I needed in an hour or so for general sports information and then watch their programming when it had something on I wanted. I like the roundtable discussions but again without the self aggrandizing and racial overtones that comes with ESPN these days.
Oh..and in terms of the timing. I'm guessing news was already starting to leak out. They probably didn't want Clark to go off the rails on the air.

That is exactly what I read was timing rationale.

It is a shame. I really liked him.

Mcaffe has his own big following. Does a lot on his own with his program.
