Big Timberwolves trade
BREAKING: The Charlotte Hornets are trading star guard LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, 2030) and three second-round picks (2029, 2032, 2033), sources tell ESPN.
Don’t worry about the pick swaps
On paper, it looks like Charlotte extracted a ton of assets from the Wolves in the trade. But a lot of it is window dressing. Second-round picks in 2029, 2032 and 2033 are real assets, but those are fairly easy to recoup. First-round pick swaps in 2028, 2029 and 2030 will never amount to anything if the Wolves are as good as they hope they will be in the next four seasons.

I don't get how some NBA analysts are saying that Charlotte got a haul. Love Naz, good player but he's not an All-Star. We gave up a couple 2nd round picks and a first round pick 7 years from now. Ball is a 24 yr old All Star PG and him and the Wolves should be good enough none of those pick swaps convey in a couple years.
Every move we've made this off-season is getting a true facilitator and microwave scorer in Ball to open the floor for Ant. We've added 3 pt shooting and spacing with Ayo and Evans (rookie we added) and the offense will be fast paced and consistently good.
I'm excited about this new look team, especially if Ball stays healthy and buys in to our defensive scheme.
This team NEEDS a true PG. Conley is washed and Dillingham can't shoot. LaMelo put up 20ppg, 7 apg and a 2.5-1 A/T ratio. Plus DDV is likely gone for most of the regular season.
I absolutely love Naz so I am bummed about that. Hard to judge Ball because of how much of a shit show Charlotte is but he has to stay healthy. This new ownership group is swinging no doubt. They have been trying to get him for 2 years so obviously there is a plan here. I don't think they are done with the moves yet. I also don't think his dad will be as dramatic as he used to be, he is going through some things. It's going to be interesting to see how things work out
