Hell yes to Max Bredeson
I can't tell you how much I love this pick. MB, do you remember you and I discussing him? You asked if he could catch and he can. He's this amazing hybrid of TE/FB and even RB. And he'll kick your ass in the blocking department at just under 250 lbs. This is JJ's boy. KOC is going to use this dude in exciting ways as far as the unexpected. He's super versatile. Smart. The boys in Eagan dialed in the right dude, you'll see. Amazing pick at this stage, bookmark this post. There are plans for this guy situationally.
I'm not a deep Draft guy.....but this guy is going to be a Viking for a long time. The dude you love that does something so cool like 8 to 10 times a year that makes a difference in games. Super solid. This is a big time value pick. Kyler's new BFF because he won't let shit in.
Happy for you, Sticky. Always great to get one of “your guys”.

Yeah, thanks man. Fun pick more than anything. Maxie will show up for the limited plays he'll be in there. He's a Midwest guy that is overjoyed to be playing for a Midwest team, especially with JJ who he is close with. Its a 4 hour drive to Minneapolis to where his family lives in Hartland, WI. A 5th on a FB/TE Hybrid tells you he was valued.
'Bredeson was a fiery leader for the Wolverines and was appealing to NFL teams in part because of his special teams play.
“(He’s got) the ability to do a lot of different things,” NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said during a recent video conference with reporters. “He's kind of a roster saver, because you can use him as a tight end, you can use him as a fullback, you move him all over the place. Special teams will be his deal. Got to prove that he can be a little bit more involved in the passing game.”
“He’s the make-it-right guy,” Casula (Michigan TE coach) said of Bredeson late last season. “Whatever the most difficult job we would ask someone to do, that’s who we ask to do it. He plays his own position. Max Bredeson competes each and every week for playing time with the call sheet, with who we’re playing, with how well he practices. We play Max Bredeson in the role that he’s in because we have Max Bredeson. So, yes, we play with a fullback. That’s how we use Max.
“Sometimes the nature of the game will change, where maybe he doesn’t get as many opportunities. That hasn’t been the case. I mean, this is the most he’s probably ever played in his career consistently on offense. Max Bredeson plays a lot because of how good he is. So what his role is, he helps us run the ball. He helps us protect the passer and then does the most difficult tasks playing on the perimeter that we would ask somebody to do. Blocking on the perimeter, sealing the edge on a naked, whatever it may be.”

If we’re in 21 a quarter of the time, this makes perfect sense. I was definitely leaning more towards a TE who could play FB, and not a FB who could play TE.

Not a fan of the pick but not based on anything other than there were players on the board that probably would provide more value in game situations. Not one running play ever in 5 years?!!?. That's not very CJ Hammish.
Who did you prefer?

I think with Kyler Murray it might be time to bring out the rarely seen 03 personnel: WR, WR, TE, TE, TE

I'll just offer the words of one longtime Michigan staffer on new Vikings FB Max Bredeson: "One of the smartest players I've ever been around. ... Every rep he takes is with purpose. ... I can't think of many times he didn't execute his assignment correctly."

Well, that's how he's kept his accuracy numbers up in recent years. I think KOC has a LOT to get dialed in for this season, especially with the very real possibility that we could see at least 2 QB starters again this Fall.
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

Very good point. My concern is how accurate Kyler is downfield....but I'm not pre-judging anything until I see 2 or 3 games in September.

Well that and the fact that he's an inherently accurate QB. In Arizona's offense he didn't throw deep often, but he will in Minnesota. His deep accuracy numbers are actually pretty good.
